I've been a long time Stadia player/supporter since launch. I was able stream and capture gameplay with no issues. This was one of the main reasons I moved to Stadia. As of late though I've noticed a huge issue when streaming on OBS while capturing Stadia gameplay. I lose about 10-25% of my frames and it causes my Stadia connection to drop. Sometimes it even loses connection completely. I've never had this issue before when Stadia released. I've checked my internet and did every possible troubleshoot to help. Yet I still have the same issues with connection. My settings are all the same and haven't been changed. I have a decent rig with 32GB of RAM, an RTX 2060, and i7 7700k processor. Is this maybe a bad build on OBS side or on Stadia side? Has anyone else had this issue?
Hi @LinkTV
if you scroll through the community, this issue seems to be currently a Stadia one - just in my opinion.
Does you have problem with Stadia in general or with a game in particular?
It's not necessarily a game specific but in general with connection. This only seems to happen in the evenings (prime time) and when running OBS. I understand that OBS itself uses a lot of resources but it did not have any affect on streaming and gaming when Stadia released. I'm thinking it's either one of two things:
1. Internet influx due to COVID-19 and causing bottlenecking or throttling in some areas in cities.
2. OBS and Stadia are conflicting somewhere and causing a completely shortage to the connection.
I've played on weekends on early mornings and it runs flawless while Streaming. So this has me convinced this is strictly internet influx that can't be controlled. Any other advice or solutions are welcomed. I would like to just try and solve the matter at hand.
I am thinking it's one of those 2, as you mentioned. I have not had any issue with OBS. But I would suggest XSplit Broadcaster when you experience that lag. It has fewer integrated features, therefore uses less resources, so it can be a backup when you run into issues with OBS.
Touching back on this as I'm a fool to not look back on things. Seems the issue was based on an IPS problem along with modem/router issue. I upgraded on both and have yet to run into any serious issues. I would consider this a "case closed" thread now.
