No 4k Stream for Cyberpunk 2077 (resolved)

I have never had the 4k stream come through. I get the "reopen your game" each and every time. Stadia support referred me to the developer. It's reported here that developer, if they acknowledge you, will refer you back to Stadia support. I've contacted CDPR as I know countless people have over the last month. It's a loop.

Meanwhile, Google is silent on the issue and happily eating my pro subscription fee which is fine, because my kid loves the pro games and I play some, too. But it sure would be nice if we got what we paid for and acknowledgment of the issue.

UPDATE

Still doesn't work, but here is an update.

I've been on the chat with stadia support 2x, and on the phone 1x, and have received an e-mail from tier 2 support.  So we have checked speed, verified ports, done all the basic troubleshooting.

The e-mail from tier 2 support is as follows:

  • TCP and UDP are ports in range 44700 - 44899.

  • These ports are required for playing games on Stadia, for more information on port forwarding, please refer to your router manufacturer’s instructions. A simple Google search for “port forwarding your router model” should bring up instructions on how to accomplish this.

  • If you’re using a work or school network, check with your network administrator. Your network administrator might block ports in this range.

  • It would also be worth trying to change your device’s DNS to Google Public DNS. This would make your connection more stable as your DNS won’t be auto assigned but instead, fixed on that said address. Here’s how to: Configure your network settings to use Google Public DNS

    • Primary Server: 8.8.8.8

    • Secondary Server: 8.8.4.4

  • Change default MTU size of network from default to 1492

I've done these things, and am still receiving the same "reopen game" message.

The TV is a SHARP LC-55Q620U.  My ISP is Spectrum. My projectstream speedtest is 222.43Mbps. My Router and modem are both from spectrum, the Spectrum "Wave 2" rac2v1s router which is a spectrum re-branded sagegmcom router, and Arris tm822g which is docsis 3.

I might be having trouble changing the DNS on the router. Spectrum might have locked that down. I get an error when I click apply, but when I log out and log in and refresh the 8.8.8.8 and 4.4 values are still there. so, *shrug*. I also have UPnP IGD enabled, so if CCU is capable, it should automagically be handling the port rules. I've tried it both ways. The spectrum router doesn't have the option to check or set the MTU size. Finally, 4k works fine on doom, destiny, cakebash, etc.

UPDATE

I don't know what did it. But right now, for the first time, i am seeing 4k resolution "on."   I'll report back if the problems comes back. The only thing of the above things I couldn't do was change the mtu.

I would highly suggest making sure you have your settings setup to do up to 4k first. I assume you have because you are posting here but unfortunately you did not state if you have your device set to go upto 4k @Lienuss

Great reply. Thank you. But sadly, yes, it is setup. It's setup in game mode and according to the Sharp tv technical instructions. I've also verified, all 3 hdmi ports are marked 4k60hz

Is cyberpunk the inly game with this issue? I've read on here that certain regions weren't getting access to 4k only on cyberpunk, maybe because of gow many people are playing it. If that's the case it's definitely a google issue and not cdpr. Pro for me isn't about 4k as i only have one 4k tv but the free games, but I could see this as a dealbreaker for those who just want 4k.

CP2077 is the only game with the issue.  I'm in Nebraska. I've heard that this problem is occurring a lot near here'ish - in Colorado - and in and around Ontario.

If you can try using a vpn as a different region and see if you have the same issue, from what i've read it's 100% on stadias end and theres nothing you can do. I can't test it myself as my 4k stream works fine in idaho.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting 4K streaming on your device @Lienuss. On Stadia's side, you can try the following to get 4K running.

Network health

  • Ensure you are getting a network speed of 35 Mbps or greater

Inside the Stadia app

  • Ensure Up to 4K is selected under Performance options

On a TV

  • Ensure Chromecast is connected to a 4K TV correctly (either directly to the TV or AV receiver or sound bar)

On Stadia.com

  • A Windows PC or Chromebook that supports VP9 hardware decoding.
    • type chrome://gpu in your search bar and press Enter
    • Find Decode vp9 under Video Acceleration Information.
  • A 4K monitor connected to the computer

This information can be found here with further details. Hope this helps.
