I remember reading that during an interview someone from google said they were "working" on mods/addons support. I have made some search on reddit and on this forum and I found out some people asked about it, but I was not able to find official/unofficial recent information. Do we have any update?
Just like many other people, I am interested in this for ESO. It is a great thing to have the crossplay with pc users, but in case the pc version of the game supports addon, Stadia users have a big disadvange. If Stadia in future will add more games like ESO, the mods support may be key factor for the game and platform success. For example, if mods support will not be implemented in a couple of moths I will be forced to cancel my stadia pro subscription, eso plus subscription (made through the stadia store) and go back playing on my pc.
Btw, I want to make clear that I love Stadia and don't want to leave it.
Haven't heard any news about this, haven't even heard that Google is planning this at all, but I assume that some other things are prioritised first before implementing mod or addon support.
For ESO I agree though, addons are very helpful.
On the other hand side, the console players (Xbox/playstation) don't have addon/mod support either for ESO, so it's also possible to play without them. It's harder or more uncomfortable I would say, but still possible.
Have you seen the Twitch announcement Stream from Bethesda yesterday btw? They implement some more features that previously only mods were giving and also a completely brand new system, which will change our ESO experience by miles (in a good way). So those are helping a bit, but of course I know what you mean, some addons that are necessary for raiding for example would still be missing.
I was aware about the twitch event but did not have the chance to watch it. I will watch it this evening.
I am very happy to know that some good improvements are done.
I know xbox and ps4 users are playing it anyway, but since I have to compete with PC users I feel disadvantaged. Of course I am talking about "raid addons" and not other things like maps, crafting...
Sure totally understand what you mean. The raid addons are really kind of essential for ESO. This is also a reason, why I am personally still playing it on PC instead of Stadia (FPS + Addons).
I started on stadia, thought it was next gen and people were telling me about add-ons within the guild, also said it's a very easy game to run and turns my outdated rig with an i5 8gb ddr3 ram and a 10 year old gtx 560ti ran it better than stadia in 1080p 60fps, was shellshocked and at that minute realised stadia was absolute crap.
yeah, no. I play stadia 4k 60fps with heavily taxing games such as cyberpunk. you just have poor internet speeds, which is the only thing that may make your stadia experience so bad.
I still log in on stadia every day for an hour to train my horses and farm some XP in the hope they make it look better than the sub par console looks we got now and 60fps AT LEAST, with stadias apparent power surely this gets close to 120fps but no we get 30fps, an industry standard back in 2008.
Hi,
So I recently found out that if you are using a CCU (Chromecast Ultra) with your stadia controller, once you are in the game you want to mod, you need to hit AABBXXYYABXYYXBA^^vv<><>BAYX- it should work on most of the games and gives the option to add extra mods if they're not there. I have not tried this, I don't know if it works.
Did you find out if it works? I don't think so.
I will absolutley try this. I have a 3rd party licence granted by Google. I don't need this for ESO I want it for BL3. I don't know if it HAS to be a "stadia" controller but I can have something be a controller for stadia
I will let you know and tyvm
I don't think it will work. I tried on RDR 2 and it did not work. Let me know.
This looks like a waste of time to me. To enable addons would require each player to have their own add ons folder on the virtual machine they are using which seems like a lot of dev time to implement. To do that work and then hide it behind an arcane 'cheat' code would be crazy!
