Since a few weeks I've got massive problems with the picture quality of my Stadia games. Please check the attached screenshots in fullscreen. I have a stadia pro subscription, but the image quality almost never reaches 4K resolution. It always looks something between 720p and 240p.
My internet connection is stable, I have no problems with streaming other content or even Playstation Now.
My PC is also pretty capable (Ryzen 3700+, Geforce 1660 Super, 32 GB RAM, SSD, 4K Monitor). My Chromecast Ultra and my PC are connected via ethernet cable, I don't use Wifi for Stadia.
This happen to me for every game I play and on every screen (I user my PC with Chrome on a 4K screen and Chromecast Ultra on my 4K TV. When I check my connection in Stadia menu, it always is good and 4K is also active.
This is so annoying, that Stadia is nearly unusable, as sometimes I cannot red the texts anymore.
I have tried using incognito mode and Edge browser but this didn't help. I tried the Stadia Enhanced plugin to force 4K and VP9, which also did not help.
Please help!
This happened to me I went into my TV settings and turned on enhanced hdmi and that fixed it
Hello ik im a bit too late for this but the only thing that worked for me, and will work for all pc users was to install "STADIA ENHANCED" extension on browser and set the resolution on 1440p ![]()
Mh the only other idea I have here is to try these troubleshooting steps as well to see if one of those hopefully fixes your issue.
I do sometimes note some drops as well when I play Valhalla for example (which usually seems to happen because of my internet), but it's never as bad as you have in your pictures.
If those steps don't help, it might be also a good idea to check out with the Stadia support if they have any further troubleshooting or the possibility to raise this problem for you (e.g. in cases where it's a bug or something).
Hi there @Broncanius, I'm sorry to hear this is happening. More often than not, when a player experiences a sudden degradation of the quality of the stream they are receiving, it is due to a change in the home network. Please take a look online for tools to determine your network's stability. While bandwidth is an important factor in quality, stability is more important. If you are suddenly dropping packets, your stream will degrade noticeably.
I recommend reaching out to your ISP to determine if there is anything else going on, such as a throttle put in place. If these suggestions do not clear it up for you, please feel free to write back and we'll continue digging.
I've changed nothing in my home network in the last few months. Every client I use is connected via ethernet, NOT Wifi. Also contacted my ISP and got my connection checked, but there were no problems found. I also checked the logfiles of my router, and there were also no connection losses or any other problems.
Stadia is the only online service which I have problems with. Everything else works fine in 4K (Netflix, Disney+, Prime, Microsoft Teams, Playstation Now...).
So in my opinion the problem is clearly Stadia related.
Up until a few weeks ago I had no problem with Stadia at all, I just finished Cyberpunk 2077 in 4K without problems for over 80 hours of playing.
Hi again @Broncanius, could you let me know which region you are located in?
Germany, near Frankfurt.
Hi @Broncanius,
The streaming services you are using that work perfectly are not that heavily depended on the network quality.
For exampe: Netflix, Disney, Prime have the possiblity to cache things and don't use as much realtime syncing.
Teams and Playstation now do need some more but still a lot less than a Cloud Gaming service like Stadia or Geforce NOW for that matter.
Did you restart your internal network components like your moden, router etc?
What kind of devices do you have running in your home network?
I've restarted my complete network components several times. I use a FritzBox 7590 Router, TV, CCU and PC are connected via Gigabit Ethernet Cable, no WiFi.
What makes me most angry is, that Stadia has worked before perfectly before. I've played Cyberpunk 2077 for over 80 hours without any problems. The problems started to occur about two weeks ago. I've changed nothing in my network. ISP also checked my connection and could not find any problems. I even resetted my router and configured everything again. Nothing solved the problem.
Hiya @Broncanius,
Hmm I also have the Fritzbox 7590 at home.
Did you recently update your firmware of the Fritzbox?
There is a new update that should improve some things.
Also you could try setting your Fritbox port which is connected to the Chromecast Ultra to be limited to 100 Mbit.
Some people reported stuttering because of switching speeds on the router (not fritzbox specific but worth a shot).
Firmware is 07.25, update is set to automatically.
I will try limiting the port to 100 Mbit, bit even if this works, this can't be a long term solution at least for my PC.
I even tried priorizing ports which are used by Stadia.
Ok did you check the connection status with Stadia Enhanced?
Did it show drops or something that isn't quite right?
Maybe changing the DNS to the Google DNS (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4)?
Within the Fritzbox I set the priority on the device instead of the used stream, but not sure if that is going to solve anything.
Is this issue happening all day or just in evening?
I will try if changing the DNS might help.
Problem happens all day, or at least from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
I will check statistics with stadia enhanced. I did not now it has a statistics feature.
Same issues here. I've done everything, even troubleshooting with customer service. stadia in 4k on CCU worked just fine last week. Every other streaming service works great, speed test to google outstanding 160mb connection to san Francisco server google, barely any jitter, low latency. Even youtube server works fabulous quick. The moment i do a speed test to Stadia its like 0.5 mb - 8.0 mb Seems like the issue is with stadia. I live in Northern california and have a 1 gb connection via Suddenlink. I can only imagine google stadia servers arent that far away, so please just add more servers, or just admit to us, because having customers neurotically double check everything when theres obviously not their fault is not cool. Honesty is the best marketing
Is it in all games or just journey?
I've tested Journey to the Savage Planet, Little Nightmares, Cyberpunk 2077, Trials and Jedi Fallen Order so far, but every game has the same problems.
I thought i saw a pattern, but honestly who knows it might just be super variable and I'm seeing patterns that arent there, because non of them correlate directly might not be clausal conclusion. But, I had a difference between watchdogs legion campaign mode working less well as Online mode (?) Both same game just different mode. And WD Legion was also showing strange pixel fractals going on, and improperly or unrendered glitch artifacts going on. Reminds me of playing on a computer with outdated specs basically, or messing with the Turbo button on a 386
Oh and bunch of 303 connection server error on elder scrolls, like within the game, the game would load and i would see the elder scroll dragon ring but stadia would have issues connecting with elder scroll servers
This happened to me I went into my TV settings and turned on enhanced hdmi and that fixed it
Wow i just tried changing the hdmi settings and, indeed it messes with it. When i turn on game mode it starts acting up "Poor connection". Game mode off, it kind of works and lets me play. Super strange.....
My CCU is not directly connected to my TV. The CCU is connected to my Denon AVR X3700H, which is also connected to my TV.
I think this could be your problem as I said I had to turn on enhanced hdmi and that fixed all my problems
But the problems occur on my PC as well, that isn't connected to the AVR. I can't imagine how HDMI settings should affect the connection.
Same Problem is now ocurring with Resident Evil 7. Seems like is it not related to the played game.

Hi everyone,
This is an older post so we're going to go ahead and lock it now. If anyone still needs help after trying the suggestions here, I'd recommend creating a new post so that you can get better visibility in our community.
Thank you,
James
