Kids and Stadia

I hope there are plans to roll out some good games for the whole family. Right now I'm thinking about Kine or Grid to play with the kids. All the other titles I play (and love to play) are a bit too violent... Also, reading Reddit and this forum it seems that there are many moms and dads who enjoy the ability to play short &casual since with kids there really is no room for hours of gaming. I really enjoy that with Stadia.

That's a good idea, @1timer, because at the moment there are indeed not many titles which are really appropriate to play with kids.

While having a look to the so far announced games in planning for Stadia (see here), I figured out that these games might be interesting for you when they'll be released (probably in 2020):

• Football Manager 2020
• Get Packed
• Gods & Monsters
• The Crew 2
• Windjammers 2

But yeah I hope anyway that there are even more games coming to Stadia, as I would enjoy some "partygames" as well when guests are over, so some quick & easy games would be great!

Left this also as feedback in the Stadia app, maybe you could do the same? The more people leave feedback maybe the more it gets heard.

Absolutely, just a matter of time.

I'm thinking of getting GRID for the kids too, bit of a mix of ages to deal with 7 and 12, so I've gone for Trials Rising, Kine and FS 19 for the youngest, I've already seen my youngest play Trials Fusion on XBox and if the violence is just limited to rag doll physics for the bike crashes and nothing more than that then I'm not concerned.

For my eldest then I was looking at GYLT and FF XV which I've not looked at in much detail yet but once again I'm not too overly concerned about it being rated 16 at the moment for him.

Obviously 18 rated games is another matter and while I'm not overly concerned with the language in some games for my eldest (he knows all the words from school anyway), I'd rather that my youngest didn't hear that too often at home on TV;  but once again not something that he hasn't heard before at school either,.  I've already had that conversation with him when has asked what the F word was, and has looked shocked when some random idiot decides that it is an acceptable choice of word to speak out loudly in a restaurant etc.

Is the family-link case finished from stadias point of view already?

At the moment, its not acceptable to buy the same games twice for different accounts. I mean,I could use the buddy-pass for my 11 year old daughter to have an own account and control it via the family link app (not tested). But thats not my intention to have a contract for everybody in the house.

I want to buy the games ONCE and let other family members play. Of course, not at the same time, a console can be used one at a time only, too. So, multiple accounts on the same stadia screen, with integration family link app.

For the games, I really hope that there will be more for kids in the future like mentioned here.

This is what Google announced in November regarding the family or family sharing, hope it helps:

How will family link integrate into stadia? Will you be able to share games with family members in order to play together? Or will I have to buy a separate copy of the game for each child?

• ANDREY: Family Link is supported on Day 1 to provide parents the ability to manage their child’s experience on Stadia. As a parent you have controls in your Family link app on the phone and the Stadia parental dashboard.
• Family Sharing is not supported on day 1, so you’ll have to buy games for your child’s account. But it’s a high priority feature, we’re planning to launch early next year. 

Therefore you can expect it in 2020. Would be definetely helpful for families which are using Stadia, totally agree!

Yes, I recall reading this around launch time for Stadia, and I'm just waiting for this to get released. 

Until then, the kids will play with my account and use common sense as to which games they will play.  They're both old enough to make the right decisions on which games to play. 

The only thing I'm still not very happy about is that in-game purchases cannot be disabled or have a pin assigned to it.  The current non-security method is to provide the 3 digit code on the back of a credit/debit card, which well isn't secure by any stretch of the imagination.   But since that is the only level of control I have when the kids play under my account, then that is all there is.

Once family sharing is a possibility then I'm not too concerned as I would expect that it will be far easier to lockdown in-app purchases for child accounts.  So, just have to have a little patience and wait for the new features to get released.  I imagine that the functionality we have currently in Stadia vs the functionality we will have during 2020 will change significantly.

Imagine if Minecraft and Roblox came to Stadia?!

Gonna need Roblox Studio to be to supported by Stadia before that can happen, as for Minecraft that will be interesting to see if Microsoft titles are going to make their way over to Stadia...

But for either of these titles, my kids will go nuts for them, but until such time they still have their XBox.
