Issue with Online services in-game (i.e., not the Stadia servers)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or has an idea what could be the solution.

I am running Stadia at 4k with (almost) no issues. The internet connection is strong enough to play without hick-ups at full resolution.

However, all online services, such as logging to a game's server, logging in to an account, etc., take forever or often fail to load at all. This happens in all games, so contacting the individual development studios, does not help.

For example Ubisoft games log you into your uPlay account and check installed DLCs, etc. In Immortals Fenyx Rising this takes about three minutes. In Hitman, you have to connect to IO Interactive's servers to use online functionality (which is mandatory for any progress in the game). However, logging in to these servers upon boot take two to three minutes as well and/or run into a failure message, asking me to try again or use offline mode.

So, as it seems, Google Stadia is taking up ALL my internet resources, which leaves none open for the game's own online functionalities. Could that be the reason? If yes, what can I do against it? As I say, my internet is normally good enough for Stadia at 4k and switching to 1080p on Ethernet does not really help with the fact, that the internet in-game is so bad.

I hope it is understandable what I mean with this.

That's not how it works... The online aspect of games connect to the Google server the game is played on. As far as I know, the only thing sent to your device is the video and audio stream of the game. 

 

As for the online issues you mentioned I can't speak for Immortals Phenix Rising since I don't own that game, but I can play the online for other Ubisoft games like WD2, Breakpoint, and Wildlands without any issues. The hitman servers are an ongoing issue that the Google and the developers are aware of. There are two posts talking about this literally right above your post, including this one that Chris from Google has replied to.

Are you positive you are using the correct login credentials? If you are, it is an issue on stadia end.

That's not how it works... The online aspect of games connect to the Google server the game is played on. As far as I know, the only thing sent to your device is the video and audio stream of the game.

Thanks for the response. That is already good to know that my internet cannot be the issue, as it the Google servers that have to connect (and not I).

I had contacted the Hitman support directly before but at least the guy who answered to my ticket, was not aware of this issue being known and worked on - and since I have similarly long load times in Immortals Fenyx Rising, I assumed it has got to be an overarching problem then.

No worries man. I've heard similar things from other people who've contacted Hitman support. Even though it's been almost a week, I'm keen to trust Chris from Google when he says the devs are aware of the issue and are working on it. Hopefully they fix it soon as it's been frustrating, but there are times where the servers are pretty stable and I'm able to make progress.

Hey I’m having a problem with Online Services in game myself how do I fix that

This thread is almost a year old. I believe the devs fixed the issues we were talking about. I played Hitman 3 on Stadia a couple weeks ago and it seemed to be working fine then. If you're having issues, it's possible the Hitman servers are undergoing maintenance, if it's a long-term problem then unfortunately you'll have to reach out to Hitman support, as useless as that might be.
