Stadia is a good platform and all but I agree that xCloud and PS now are real stadia killers since they let you game on a PS5/XSX with a huge collection of games.
Since Stadia is not bound to playing on a remote console, Stadias advantage would be getting use of the incredible power of the data center. Making games that cannot simple be made on the PS5 or XSX (I don't mean super graphics, more like incredible interactive worlds and such). That could be Stadias niche and would blow PS5/XSX-exclusives out of the water.
Stadias niche right now seems to be being a streaming platform that let player interact with state share and stuff.
Why people want Stadia to be Netflix? I never really expected it to be. I don't see any cloud gaming service really can be like Netflix. How developer want to spend effort to make good games in that system? I only see similar eye catching game keep coming in that future.
I don't mind paying for good games, for the developer's hard work which should be rewarded.
Stadia is system I borrow computer which I cannot afford. I am fine with it. I don't play games I already finished usually, it doesn't matter if I keep physical disk or downloaded game software. I even like not owning those, I am not a collector.
I still enjoy Stadia Pro and I won't change for another platform so far. Do I want to play something? Just open my laptop and play, no more update and wait few minutes/hours
I've been a happy subscriber since the day it was released. A lot of those games you see released in stadias library you can eventually claim for free. Some of the bigger titles, I've priced match some of them with other platforms and services; they all seem to be about the same price and at certain times same discounts.
Stadia is definitely not dead. Just like any platform, certain games won't be as popular as you would think.
I say, give Stadia a chance. Cloud gaming is still fairly new to everyone. New generation services will not just be built and be perfect in one go. It takes time to build it up.
I’m done with stadia tbh I don’t get why you have to subscribe for what access to there servers and services eg 4K for £8,99 then pay for the games separately it’s nuts plus the fact what did it for me is destiny 2 is free on Xbox and they even bundled in new beyond light for free doom is free else where Star Wars fallen Jedi is free else where
And to top it off Microsoft can stream all the above games and tons more to phones laptops etc for 10,99pm
did I mention EA access is included for no extra cost unlike you have to pay further for Ubisoft on stadia
now don’t get me wrong I’m not hating on stadia yes the service work mostly and yes features are now here
but there business model sucks I don’t care what people say but it does
who in there right mind would pay full price for a 2yo game
it’s also been quoted in press that the Amazon Luna fixed the mistake stadia did at launch and thats the business model Netflix of gaming you pay one price you stream tons of games notice PlayStation now and Microsoft and now Amazon have completely gone the same business model ?
Lets just be fair and not a fanboy, Stadia is dead and will NEVER become mainstream.
The game prices are bordering price gouging.
The game pool is VERY small to choose from.
If your going to get an older game you can get it from G2A for fractions of the price.
.....and the most important thing is if you watch googles history, you will see they are always front line with projects and products and they always fail, 1 or 2 year later someone else comes out with the same products but more polished and with open ears to the communities bestowing us with what we want.
So stadia is great for opening the door for others to improve but as it sits, its already a dead horse that people keep kicking.
I wish this thread would die....
Let's bet, what will live longer. This thread or stadia ![]()
my problem consists of the idea that one has to pay full price for a game they won't own. furthermore can only play with a stable internet connection (which I have) but still am unable to play sniper elite 4 on my Chromebook for more than 30 seconds. I'd be insanely mad if I had paid full price for it.
You don't 'own' digital games on most other platforms either, and the official storefronts charge the same RRP usually.
If Sniper Elite 4 isn't running on your Chromebook, have you tried to figure out why?
It's not dead but soon they need to show some new hardware investments and prove that the performance can scale over time like they demonstrated.
They messed up their initial launch by advertising this platform as being far more powerful than consoles, they failed to prove that claim then, and they are in for a tricky time proving to even get close to on par with current gen.
My prediction is they will upgrade part of their cloud computing with new custom AMD Big Navi architecture chips. They will then put that improved performance behind the Stadia Pro Subscription or possibly make a more expensive subscription tier for it if they need to limit how many people can access it.
That wouldn't make any sense, as it would require two versions of each game to exist - one using the 'base' hardware, one using the 'pro' hardware. It would also require Devs to optimise for two 'consoles', not just one.
Alternatively, only having the 'pro' version of the game available would actually make Stadia less attractive to new users because you would have to buy games and subscribe to access them - the false accusation that's been levelled at Stadia since launch.
Stadia is getting hardware upgrades. We just don't know when.
Stadia is already less attractive to new users atm because it can't demonstrate better performance vs the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X (last gen).
It depends how complicated the optimisation is really. Graphics presets should be something they can adjust quite easily given that it is all cloud based. One major advantage of cloud based is that it should be able to evolve and be upgraded far more regularly than static consoles if proper investment is put into it.
We'll have to see how they implement hardware upgrades for Stadia. I doubt Google will upgrade all of their hardware at the same time, so there's bound to be restrictions on who can use the improved hardware when they first roll it out, such as 4k only. Whether the devs are willing to have 2 separate versions with different presets/frame rates while they do this roll out is another question, you'd HOPE this would be the case because otherwise it shows massive limitations to the potential future regularity of hardware improvements. Stadia isn't going to stand out if it's always a step behind consoles.
Edit: and before you say anything about Stadia not trying to be a step ahead of consoles, watch about 1min of this https://youtu.be/BeFnQrgtZ9k?t=192
Destiny is, cant even find another 5 players for rumble and its part of crucible progress, real shame.
Stadia newbie here...after using stadia for the last week...I’m very excited to see what Christmas sales and the Cyberpunk promo did for the player base size...I got it because it looked like a no lose situation....turns out I really like this platform...if some of the games I love land on the system this year I doubt I’ll get a next gem console
I have no issues with Stadia. Sure beats buying a brand new Ps5 or Xbox lul
I like Stadia how it is. I don't need a Netflix for games, I don't play that much. For me its better to buy special offers and play one game at a time. I think it is great to play in 1080p with a in my opinion beautiful graphic for free, a computer that can do this will cost several hundred dollars. I can buy a lot of games for the saved money, more than I play in a year.
The monthly subscription isn't really attractive for me. As i learned, games in the catalogue will disappear after some month, so it is more like paid demo versions (though you can play the full game).
I used the game pass ultimate, but did not find many games I really like, so i prefer to buy games rather than paying monthly for a collection.
For Pro membership the games you claim are yours for as long as you remain a Pro subscriber, I.e. once you have claimed them they don’t disappear after some months but remain yours forever... The limitation is that you only have a number of months to claim the free game before they are no longer ‘claimable’. Also, if you decide to pause your subscription and restart after some months then all the games you previously claimed will be there for you once you restart your subscription!
New to Stadia and I love it. Matched with Ubisoft+ and there is more than enough to keep you busy. With Stadia only a year old . I'm impressed with the improvements. So I would say Stadia is far from dead. Just slowly maturing.
Why specifically are you dissapointed? Do you have any issues with the games? Do you have connection issues?
Stadia is a Netflix for gaming in the sense that you can just click and play, no need to install or update the games and the fact that you're streaming. Ubisoft+ is a subscribtion service though that can be used with Stadia.
After more than a year on the platform, more than 140 products purchased including games, add-ons, virtual currencies, two premier editions and an original wasabi controller (two controllers broken in a week), I would say that it is not dead as a platform.
They clearly have an unmotivated and emotionally affected team. ( Corporations like Google have specialist for this cases, use it please)
It is true that developers do not join the platform and it takes a long time to port their games and in some cases it is not in the hands of STADIA.
However they should improve what they already have.

Your steps are so predictable that they are seen from miles away and this bothers me deeply, you think I don't want Hitman 3, I won't buy it, you think I can't buy Hitman 3 I won't buy it for including 1 and 2 in PRO, I have a policy to don't play PRO games, you think I don't want to play METRO, F1, Gylt, GRID, PUBG I won't play them because it's a way to punish you, if you put 100 games in the store tomorrow I can buy them, if I don't buy it's to punish you for everything what you do wrong, because I understand that not everyone can buy everything and PRO is an insult.
You have everyone asking for FIFA I understand that you will not reach an agreement with Electronic Arts, you know FIFA sales ... as you do with PUBG, I hope you see an opportunity here.
Although I wouldn't play it, you know my PRO game policy.
You are unable to be innovative or solve problems in a great way, you are unable to create a project on the scale of STAR CITIZEN and turn it into an interface where developers would include their games within that world, you are unable to create a lobby where players start session and they can make groups and jump into a game by getting into an F1 car and launching into a portal through F1 when you have all these multiplayer problems, you are the cloud where you break the physical barrier and you have no limits, but you don't take advantage ... you are just one more store and you do not offer anything that is not offered elsewhere.
Why can't I assemble my Iron Man armor and see Thor#4865 running to ask me for help and call Heimdall to open a portal to Marvel Avengers, why you are not acquiring licenses to do this, why you are not proposing it to developers to promote their games on the platform, why you don't create items for that world of worlds that we can unlock with achievements, why we don't have great things ... so what's your plan, replicate Fortnite, Minecraft, Fall Guys, Rust, Among Us and Which influencers make it popular? what's your plan, a copy of a copy of a copy? is it going to be consumed? Is it going to be a success? What is your plan, what is different about STADIA? How long do you think the stream consumption will last? do you have any plans to adapt to change? can you create a change?
I understand Covid, I would like to stop having bipolar episodes and disappear from publishing but you give me love and then you give me hate, you are bittersweet STADIA.
Honestly in many of my posts I hope you ban me so I can have an excuse and go somewhere else.
Drop the **bleep** money and make a serious platform.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES: This is a fictional and original publication by the screenwriter and does not show the reality of STADIA at all. Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.
Who knows, but psnow is PRETTY fantastic.
In over a year I haven’t seen their team interact with a single forum post or give any feedback on any user ideas/bug reports or requests.
so yes, this project has been dead from the start.
