I want to have the full game available to play on my computer. I don't want it so that I can only stream it when I have an internet connection and I don't want my entire library to disappear if Google decides Stadia isn't making them money anymore. I also don't want to eat my internet bandwidth to the point where my ISP contacts me and tells me I need to pay for a more expensive plan.
Is there some way of switching to classic game installations?
Hello @DarkDev
Stadia is not a PC in the cloud. The games are not available to download. It sounds like it may not be an ideal fit for your needs.

Yea, except Stadia does have exclusives. I'm a big fan of Orcs Must Die unfortunately. Believe me when I say I have no intention of sticking around past the absolute necessities.
I can see your point, but Stadia isn't offering this. All games are on Google's servers and the idea is to stream the games to your device, so that you don't need to download or update a game ever. This is basically the big advantage Stadia is offering. Indeed though, you need a strong internet connection to have a good experience on Stadia, because "streaming" using your internet bandwidth.
If you want to be able to download games, then maybe Steam might be a platform for your needs. You can buy games there, then download them to your PC and play them. Whenever there is an update available though, you need to first update the game, before you can play further. This does also require an internet connection, but it must not be a superstrong one (depending on if the game is multiplayer/requires Internet or not), if the connection is not very good downloads/updates just take much longer.
Some games are indeed exclusive to some platforms, but usually the exclusive-time is about 1 year and then games are sold also on other platforms. This is not a promise though, might be different from game to game, depending on what deal the platform has with the developers. "Grounded" is for example exclusive for Steam if I remember correctly. Stadia has some exclusives as well.
I think you just need to decide for yourself what makes the most sense for you there, because all platforms work differently and have their own specific advantages/disadvantages.
If game streaming is a issue stadia is not for you. The reason we play on this is so we do not have to download are games.
Yeah but you require unlimited data to do this. Plus when there is an outage youre screwed. Plus teh graphics are crap compared to downloading it. Baldurs gate runs on medium graphics I can run on teh highest settings so we miss out on that as well
Hi everyone,
This is an older post so we're going to go ahead and lock it now. If anyone still needs help after trying the suggestions here, I'd recommend creating a new post so that you can get better visibility in our community.
Thank you,
