Sorry to add to the already numerous family sharing posts. I am not asking about timeline, but I was wondering if we can know at least how it's planned to work and/or some facts around it. With a bunch of big titles close to release, I figure there will be an increase of people looking to buy games soon. It would be useful just to know how Family Sharing will work so we can be more informed on the best way to make these game purchases (all purchases on 1 account vs. spreading them out across multiple accounts).
We know nothing about how family sharing will work. We don't even have a timeline (something we had in the first place).
We can only assume how it works based on family sharing for Android, where you create a family group and share titles with that group.
Thanks for your reply. My bad for not being more clear. I'm well aware of everything you mentioned. My question was more directed at the devs (i.e. Grace and/or Chris) to see if it was possible to get some additional info earlier while we wait for this feature to be rolled out. It would help make more informed decisions on game purchases moving forward.
There's been some info from recent app APK teardowns that indicates that everything - including any claimed pro games - are shared across the family group, but each game can only be played by one account at a time.
But officially we don't have any info and APK teardowns aren't always accurate long term.
Good to know, thanks! I figured I likely won't hear anything back since it's still being worked on so they might not want to talk about it until its done. I'll take any information I can get, at this point. My fingers are crossed that it will work as described in the APK teardown.
Another pressing question would be how much as well. Its all well and good until we cant afford it haha.
I am under the impression it won't cost anything to have family sharing. It's just a feature that will be part of Stadia.
One major clue we've gotten (since around April or so) is that Stadia is listed here: https://families.google.com/families
It implies family sharing with Stadia will function similar to other digital content across your library with Google such as movies, books, and TV.
