How to Fix Input Lag

Hey Guys,

I see some of you on here talking about no input lag and I just don't understand how.

No matter which device or connection I use there is always very noticeable lag and it's making me want to never use this service again.

I see some of you mention gaming mode on the tv which i will try but I'm shocked that my PC which is getting 700mb download (line in) is experiencing BRUTAL lag on Rage 2. Input and visual. All other games have noticeable lag too, especially FPS- but Rage is just the worst.

What can I do to fix this? If some of you are getting no input lag then I must be able to as well....right? I ran a packet loss test that one of you posted https://packetlosstest.com/ and even tho I have great internet download speeds and great ping in online PC games, I am either losing 1%-75% of packets depending on when I run the test... Why would it be so inconsistent on a line in PC?

Hoping some of you can shed some light on how to fix this. It's really driving me nuts.

Thanks

@Bobo

In the Stadia app, go to your profile, then "Data usage & performance", and set it to "Limited Data usage". Restart the game and try playing once again to see whether or not it resolves your issue. If it does, that should narrow things down, and perhaps, you could switch it to "Balanced".

If that does not work, provide us more info about your OS, Chrome version, Chromecast or system in general.

This actually did help quite a bit- can't say there is no input lag but definitely less. Thanks for that!

With that said, it's still odd to me that a 1gb connection cant achieve max settings on stadia... what information would help you narrow this down?

I'm on the latest version of chrome- windows 10 pro- i7- 32gb ram. All topish end specs.

Same issue at work with a similar slightly less powerful rig.

Let me know if you have any other tips, I really expected the best from this service and input lag is such a bummer.

I had a few input lag on doom eternal release day, although i have probably one of the best connexion out there (1gb/s on fiber). I guess everyone was playing massively. It's been back to very few input lag since then.

When I felt the input lag i had to downgrade to 1080p streaming and everything was ok.

What router are you using? Controller connected to 2.4 or 5ghz?

Make sure your router is a proper setup for not changing profile. I found my controller was constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to the two bands serperatly. I upgraded my router and stopped using the one provided by my ISP and everything is great

Hi I was having issues with input lag on my mobile phone and side loaded stadia on nvidia shield, and have now eliminated it by not using a Bluetooth connection. So on mobile I am using a short usb c to usb c cable from an xbox one controller directly into the phone, and on nvidia shield I am using a 3rd part controller that connects via a USB infrared wireless dongle not bluetooth such as xbox 360 or gamesir t4 pro controller and the input lag is not noticeable to me now, even in first person shooters. So for me the issue seemed to be related to bluetooth connection, I don't own a stadia controller so not sure about using that as an input. Hope this helps.
