Hotline Miami has a reproducible hard crash that always occurs when the player attempts an execution with the Fireaxe weapon. This crash makes it impossible for players to unlock the "Always On Top" achievement (which is obtained by performing an execution with every weapon in the game, including the Fireaxe), and subsequently prevents players from unlocking the 35th achievement (which is obtained by unlocking the other 34 achievements in the game).
I reproduced the crash on Google Chrome using mouse and keyboard, and on Pixel 5 and Chromecast Ultra using the Stadia Controller connected via WiFi. I reproduced the crash using different masks (Richard, Tony, Peter, Russell), and I reproduced the crash on three different chapters (Decadence, Full House, and Exposed).
@HiredN00bs I sound like a broken record but submitting it through the app is a good way to ensure it gets in front of dev eyes. Or if you want visual confirmation that it's getting logged, try telling a support agent in the live chat.
@HiredN00bs Hey there, I must admit I haven't seen any reports of this bug yet so on that note good catch! Have you tried reaching out to the publisher/developer of the game to let them know there's a game breaking bug? If not I'd highly recommend reaching out.
@Deleted User Thanks for the reply. What's the best way to identify and contact the publisher and developer?
I've since reproduced the crash with other chapters and other masks, and with static and randomly spawned Fireaxes. I'd really like to finish getting the achievements in the game.
@HiredN00bs Here's some contact options I found for the publisher, Devolver Digital
Email: support@devolverdigital.com
Twitter: https://twitter.com/devolverdigital
Discord: https://discord.gg/devolverdigital
I'd start with the support email and go from there, as an achievement hunter myself I feel your pain. Here's to a speedy fix
Thanks for the information, @Deleted User! I reached out to Devolver Digital by e-mail.
I also did some additional testing. It turns out the glitch is not specifically related to execution with the Fireaxe weapon. I was able to log onto a family account and perform executions with the Fireaxe without incident, which would indicate that this hard crash is instead tied to the Achievement unlock(s) this in-game action is attempting to trigger on my account. Because of this, it may be of interest to the Stadia developers as well. Do you know how I might best relay this information to them?
