Either with ultra or on browser/desktop app, I try to play PUBG, have to turn off wifi on my other computers and phone. Nothing else is open on my computer, and in the whole house theres probably one or two other devices on wifi. Control lags, visual glitches, overresponsive/nonresponsive controls
Do I need to upgrade my wifi or move to a city, I live outside of town and it's very frustrating as I rarely play and when I do I can't play because of the choppiness.
what should i do...?
Stadia of course shows a certain amount of latency due to its nature as a streaming service. It simply cannot be compared to an e.g. Series X.
As long as you do not play competitive (you do, I know), this should not bother you too much.
Most latency on the other hand occurs on the user's end and is highly dependable on thr type of connection you have.
To illustrate I'd like to take an example from Germany as we are internet cave men -.- : If we have access to "good" connections here, we mostly have either one of two provider-types: Cable connections (e.g. Vodafone) with usually 500-1000MBit down / 50 up or SVDSL (e.g. Telekom) with 200-250MBit down / 40 up. You could easily think that the higher MBit-connection is better for stadia but it is the exact opposite since the VF connection shows almost 3 times the latency and is made for working with large amounts of data packages, resulting in quick downloads. The opposite is true for the SVDSL connections which are perfect for game streaming.
Long story short: If you have neighbours/friends using Stadia and if those access a different type of connection, you should compare and make sure where your problem derives from ![]()
Have you tested ethernet yet? Just to rule out some issues. Do you have a modem provided by your isp or a personal one? 2.4ghz or 5 ghz? Distance to modem when playing? Have you tried unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in?
I've had far less issues after I resetted the Chromecast and plugged in wired ethernet. If you decide to do this: please first reset your Chromecast (mine kept going back to it's wifi for some reason).
Try an ethernet connection on your Chromecast, see if that fixes anything - if it does, then your WiFi is the bottleneck. If it doesn't, then it's possibly your ISP as well. Are you getting any connection warnings while playing? Oh, and what's your actual connection speed?
This doesn't sound like the experience you should be having, and the issue replicating across multiple devices is an interesting one.
Do you get the same functionality defects across other games? Can you try a few, both single ayer amd mmultiplayer for a couple of minutes, how do they respond?
Then can I ask what speed your wireless is? Try ookla's speed checker and can you report upload/download and ping responses.
The good news is that issues can be fixed, its just finding the cause.
