I find the current hardware refund policy when Stadia shuts down to be unfair. I bought my controller via 3rd party and now will have any functionality removed from it. All of this while the original purchaser will get a refund? That doesn't make sense.
Why not require people to log on with the controller on their accounts to see who will get the refund by a certain date?
Thanks.
@iconeo The refund policy is coming from the Google Store. It's the same concept as if you're buying things from Target, Best Buy, Walmart (apologies if you're not in US, but I think you get the point). Each store has their own policy on how to handle returns, and in order to get the returns, you will need to provide some sort of proof of purchase.
Aside from that, there have been promotions in the past where they got the Stadia controllers for free (through Youtube Premium and Cyberpunk deals, for example) so it gets even harder to justify who gets to have the refund.
That still doesn't nullify the fact that the hardware that I paid for will soon be useless.
@iconeo You can still use the controller with cable (wired connection) to play games on PC.
There have been a lot of people requesting for bluetooth functionality to be enabled to be used for PC / phone game purpose, but no news so far. All we can do is hope that it will happen eventually.
