Has anyone experienced trouble getting refund from google?
I purchased a movie pack yesterday from Google Play Movie. I realized that it was not the correct version I was looking for, so I requested a refund almost immediately after the purchase. I did not watch the movies, but my refund request got rejected. When I contacted google support, the agent kept referring me to google policy without specifically telling why I am not eligible for refund (screenshot attached). When I read the policy, I am definitely eligible for the refund.
Because of this, I am getting nervous purchasing digital contents from google, which includes Stadia.
Am I being unreasonable here, or is it google?
@BlueMarble I totally understand your frustration. I actually had bad experience dealing with Google support as well (I think it was about Nexus tablet purchase.. can't really remember)
But like I mentioned on my reply above, I've never had any issue refunding a game, as the process is pretty straightforward. Never had to talk to support as well. Of course, I can't guarantee 100% that this will always be the case of course. There will always be exceptions, and who knows what will actually trigger it.
I'm not going to try to convince you, if you've already made up your mind, as I would like to respect your decision. I will leave it up to you now whether you feel comfortable purchasing a game on Stadia or not ![]()
Regarding your current Play movie issue, all I can suggest is try contacting support again and make sure you speak to another agent. See if you have better luck. You can also bring up the issue in the Google Play forum and see if it can get escalated

Good luck!
Hi, I am not sure about other google play services but from my experience stadia's refund policy is good. Either 2 weeks or 2 hours of game play which ever comes first (re-purchasing the game nulls the refund policy). I have refunded a few games with no major issue. Contacted support and basically said I would like a refund for a game. They looked into it and checked when I bought it and how long I played the game. Might just be me but I have had success every time.
Here is the stadia refund policy link: https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/9598538?hl=en&ref_topic=9495516
@ShadowKnight That is similar refund policy to google play movie service, which is understandable as Stadia is also from google.
Did not watch the movies. Within 7 days. It was first purchase. (re-purchase nulls the refund policy).
As these policies are similar (under google) Stadia support could do exactly same too. So, it still puts me at unease.
When asked for other support channels, I was asked to leave a feedback, which I know it goes to nowhere.
Hi @BlueMarble - Can't help much regarding Google Play's policy, but I never had any issue refunding a Stadia game as long as I haven't played for more than 2 hours, and it hasn't been 2 weeks since the time of purchase. I don't think you have much to worry about getting Stadia refund.
With regards to your Play movies issue, you can try to refer to the article that you linked above when talking to support. Sometimes Google support can be a hit or miss, and they may need a gentle reminder here and there (maybe they're training new people, for example)
Hey @Ivan
I reviewed the policy before contacting the support, and during the chat, the agent pasted the link to me as well. Every time I politely reminded the agent that I am still eligible for the refund, the agent just kept repeating what was on the attached screenshot. It was going nowhere.
What makes me at unease is that Stadia is also run by google; and having similar policy, it could happen to Stadia too. Who knows...maybe same agents provide support for all google services, including Stadia. Maybe Stadia is more lenient, because it is still a new service.
I had confidence with google purchases, but now, I am not so sure.

@Ivan Thanks for the link Ivan. I will try suggested ways.
But with Google Play forum, it appears that the support just pastes same "policy" link and locks the thread.
