What will happen to my game licenses if google finally decide to quit the stadia service?
Can I transfer the games to another platform?
Hi @MisterX
You won't be able to transfer like if another platform will quite as well.
Hi @MisterX,
This question is asked serval times.
You have to look at Stadia as it is a console like a Playstation 5.
If you buy the game for the Playstation 5 it only works on the Playstation 5.
Hope this helps! ![]()
The different is, if Sony quits the PS, I can use my consol and disks offline.
And google quits sometimes services...
But anyway thanks for the answers
You don't have to worry about Stadia. More than reading all thoses medias using their venoms against Stadia just Because Stadia "is" Google, you should check, for example, this article : https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2021-05-13-google-says-stadia-is-alive-and-well
Stadia works well. It's a great services and people are ready to pay for it by directly buying games or subscribe. Yes, it's true, Stadia made some errors at the beginning. Who doesn't ?
You know, if there is AAA games like AC: Valhalla (Ubisoft), Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar Games), Final Fantasy XV (Square Enix) and others, it's for a reason : Google is making new relationships and both Google & developpers/editors have no interest of investing in Stadia if it doesn't work.. think of it ! ![]()
Another thing to say : The real difference is when Sony does want to make a new console, you will not have new games on their previous consoles and it will force you to buy a new console each time they will make this decision - through I like Sony aswell - can we say the same for Stadia ? No. ![]()
Consoles = We DO KNOW they will die (to be replaced by new ones) someday (E.G. RIP PS4)
Stadia = We DO KNOW it will not die until it works. And.. it works. ![]()
EDIT : If you bother, I had the same question 2 months before you. See this thread : https://community.stadia.com/t5/Stadia-General/I-m-worried-What-do-you-think-about-Stadia/td-p/55337 Is Stadia dead in 2 months ? No. Even better, medias is starting to like Stadia. You'll probably understand that you can trust in Stadia & Google.
Hello,
I don't think it's a matter of when as you implied, but if they did, then potentially you could lose access to those games. What I think is more likely is that they would make an arrangement for people to access their games through another service.
As far as I know, Google have never shut down a paid service without either refunding customers for their purchases (for example with Focal) or transferred them to a different service (like with Google Play Music moving to YouTube Music).
It's not guaranteed, but a company the size of Google with a reputation to uphold, I find it unlikely they would just close up without some form of plan.
The Google Play Store made more money than either Xbox or Nintendo for 2019. Pretty sure they can afford to keep Stadia up.
