Game streaming not good on PC

Weird situation I can't explain/understand. I get good performance with game streaming (Stadia, GFN) only when using the respective devices (Chromecast, Shield) connected through Ethernet. But from a laptop, also connected over Gigabit Ethernet (albeit through MoCA), game streaming performance is not good (higher ping). Thinking maybe it was the MoCA connection I pinged the router from the PC but the ping was only 3 ms. So I think that means MoCA connection might not be the problem. In fact I took the laptop over to the router and connected it with a short ethernet cable and even got poor performance there. So this seems to suggest that something about my PC is the source of the problem. My PC does not have an Ethernet port so I'm using a USB adapter. Its supposed to be Gigabit 3.0 USB. What could be going on in my laptop that would add latency? I even reinstalled Windows but no change.

There are quite a few factors in play, one of them being the lack of ethernet adapter port on your PC as you mentioned. Also, keep in mind that your PC still consumes resources even in the browser, in addition to other processes running in the background while you play.  All those factors do impact your experience while you play.

You could try running Chrome in Incognito mode, limiting your CPU usage by shutting down other running applications. Also, connect to the 5G band if your wireless router has that option.

But, ultimately, it appears your system's capabilities might be the reason. So, providing more details about your system's specs might help us get to the root of the issue.
