I just want to remind Google that surround sound for us Pro subscribers who live in smaller living spaces and can only use soundbars and don't have eARC still have no surround sound... What's worse, before entering a game and loading the Sadia home screen, the "Stadia sound" (opening noise) plays in surround sound! Then, as soon as a game loads and HDR enables it's gone. (Insert Hercules "disappointed!" meme-gif)
I desperately want Google to address this, so forgive me Stadia community while I keep this alive.
Only eARC passes surround sound on Stadia through Chromecast Ultra. Why!? ARC is clearly the most widely available. My TV is a 2019 model and it doesn't have it. Clearly, Google, you are leaving so many people out, and making TV gaming far less attractive. Why can I cast from my phone and get surround sound, but with Stadia I cannot?
Have you tried submitting feedback through the official channels?
@Grovelhog Oh, indeed I have, friend. This also shouldn't need to be something that I am campaigning for, as it ought to be something that works day one.
Oh, Stadia! How I long to play you with surround sound through ARC on my Chromecast Ultra!
My speculation is that this will all be resolved with the release of the Stadia app for the new Chromecast with Google TV (CGTV?) dongle. This may be why they are literally throwing Premiere bundles at people right now - trying to clear down the stock of CCU+controller bundles to make room for CGTV+controller bundles. But that's just my bored mind working overtime.
That does make sense to me. I had a similar thought. I really hope one can get surround sound from a MUCH wider variety of setups if they start pushing that device!
Okay, so last night I noticed that small ambient noise (bug noises, birds, etc) were coming through the rear channels, but nothing else!? Uhh, why would this be happening?
Surround sound? Are you there!? I can't hear you! Where did you go!?
Last night I couldn't even get audio from the Chromecast at all, just through the controller (headset). Google, are you punishing me!? (Lol.) Imagine, a game console that worked across every device and that had surround sound available for those who don't own BRAND NEW TVs or the space for big audio setups! What a world that would be...
Surround sound through ARC, are you there?
Do you have the option to plug the CCU into the sound bar? That's the only way I could get 5.1 to work. The soundbar needs to support 4K passthrough though...
Hi @Deleted User, unfortunately my soundbar (Sonos Beam) does not have any inputs, just outputs. And even though my QLED is from 2019, it doesn't have eARC. This is why I find this situation unbelievable, Google has severely limited it's potential to a wide audience in terms of audio, even though they announce to the world how Stadia is a play anywhere easily service. Insert sad face.
Oh please, Google. Do add surround sound through ARC. I beg of thee.
How I long for thee, O Surround Sound from ARC. Does doth thy know that eARC be too new? Why doth thou restrict me from hearing your glory?
Surround sound. Through. ARC.
#StadiaThroughARC
Hey Google, surround sound through ARC, please!!
Surround sound through ARC!
