I know this is an hot topic, and probably a lot of people already asked this question, but I can't find anything official about this thing. Can we have an official answere to how Google think to handle free-to-play games like Fortnite, Apex, Dauntless etc... Will them ever be availabe on Stadia ? There is already a plan to integrate them ? May be only for PRO accounts ? In my opinion the access to these type of games it's something "mandatory" for a gaming platform like Stadia, and the fact that Google has not answered to this topic is quite strange... Can we have any official announce on it ?
Good question, but Google hasn't announced anything yet regarding those games and I don't think you'll hear anything soon about it. Maybe even the developers are not planning to launch those games on Stadia.
I would recommend to leave feedback for this in the Stadia app or in the web (stadia.google.com) and also keep an eye on the social media channels of Stadia and of the developers. If a game would be released or planned, they'll announce it normally.
Destiny 2 is a free to.play title so I image after December when the collection leaves Pro, new members can play the base game for free but will have to buy the DLC expansions.
This question is an exortation to Google to release official announcements about this type of games.
Destiny 2 is a free to play game, but in Stadia it's not free at the moment, I'm not sure that starting from January anyone without a PRO account will be able to play Destiny 2 on Stadia... We have no information about this too ![]()
@Jenesis : While Destiny 2 is a free to play game, the version that is included in Stadia e.g. the Shadowkeep expansion is not a free expansion. IIRC, you can't get the Shadowkeep anywhere for free. So it isn't like you are having to pay for something via the Pro subscription that you can get free elsewhere AFAIK.
@Mad_Dog_Bravothat's another reason to ask if also the free-to-play version of Destiny 2 will be ever available on Stadia :). Just to be clear, I'm not pretending anything obviously
I'm just curious if there will be any formula that will allow us to play these games too, maybe another type of subscription or just a PRO account or anything else. The lack of information in this topic is quite strange given that the most played games at the moment are free-to-play games.
Actually with the limited game pool google started with, i am actually quite perplex that they didnt added a few free to play games in the start.
For example space invaders, tetris and alot more of similar games that do not compete on graphic but on playability.
Google had a perfect marketing arena with christmas and sadly i think it was not used at all, and some on Stadia pr department sleept at work.
What have been better marketing Stadia and accessabilty then giving the people that went home for holidays being able to give their nieces and cousins easy access to play a quick easy game on the phone or tab with a controller?
And no samurai showdown is not what you offer a kid too play infront of the parents, that game is for when parents is not looking
@NilasI Hope so, but the fact that they are not releasing any informazioni about these games push me to think that they are not going to consider that games at the moment...
Maybe but...In an article from Game Insider back in July 2019, Sam Corcoran (who's a manager for stadia) announced that there was 4000 developers applied to Stadia.
So unless I'm mistaken, we have no information about these 4000 developers as of now. And even if a significant part would have been disappointed with the soft launch for Stadia, they cannot all have vanished.
I believe Google didn't try yet. They are holding themselves for some events to really launch stuffs. I think we are only beta-testers here while they include the features. Remember there wasn't a store at the beginning, I would want to hide like Google did if I launch a service with no store....
I mean it's so quiet that I'm not worried. When you think about it, everything looks like it's on hold until a true launch.
I believe Stadia will likely wait until it launches to address this issue. Google really needs the data from this "paid beta" formula to insure it can handle the volume of gamers that a free to play platform with several existing free to play titles that have large player bases will absolutely guarantee.
@mourne you know I would be okay with that, if they would just tell us that is what they are doing. I am finding myself more and more agitated daily at the lack of information. I don't understand why Google isn't making it look like they are trying to control the narrative.
