[Feature Debate] - What about gyro sensor in Stadia controller?

Hello everyone,

After a few months of answering questions and reacting to posts in the community, it is finally time for me to post a question in this channel. I already know that such features should/must be transmitted through the in-app Stadia feedback channel (and I did I think a year ago) but I wanted to get to know other players point of view on this matter.

First things first, one has to admit that there is a huge difference between PC gaming and console gaming as FPS (and general shooters) are involved. Accuracy and reactivity are indeed far better using a mouse than using the joystick on a controller - and don't even think of Smartphone-based gameplay: you will end up being the first person to die on the battlefield for sure  I became quite convinced about this "PC superiority" until I played Zelda BOTW on Nintendo Switch. For those who haven't played it (yet), we are able to change the bow orientation using the right joystick AND the gyroscope within the right controller. As I played, my accuracy was astonishing (or at least far better than regular joystick-based aiming) and I felt quite natural to move the joystick a bit to get a rough aiming direction and then use the move the controller to fine tune this direction. If you have not experienced it yet, I recommend you to try to get to know this feeling and it was easy to shoot 3 headshot arrows within 1 sec, which is impossible for me in current Stadia gameplay, firstly because I usually use guns instead of bows :slightly_smiling_face: but mostly because of the lack of gyroscope!

Therefore, I would find quite useful to get a gyro feature in next hardware generation of Stadia controller. When using L2 to enter aiming mode, we could fine tune the direction by moving the controller in 3D (or maybe using the gyro on phones?). This could be game specific aiming controls, which can be turned on or off in settings.

Of course, making a u-turn while aiming could become quite tricky  but I would like to try such a gameplay in console (or rather cloud?) games. What do you think about it? Would you find it useful or rather counterintuitive? I know this topic has been addressed in Stadia community for about 2 years but I wanted to know if there is any cons with this feature (maybe network usage or battery life?)

Best,
