This is what Google announced regarding the family or family sharing, hope it helps:
How will family link integrate into stadia? Will you be able to share games with family members in order to play together? Or will I have to buy a separate copy of the game for each child?
I knew they made that statement. I was just hoping to hear some better news from somebody from Google. They didn't make that clear from day 1 that if you buy a second controller it can't be used for a family member. It can only be used as a spare. Essentially, it's just a paperweight for a few months. Glad I decided to wait to buy the kids controllers.Thank you anyways for your reply.
The kids can just use your controllers and pick their own user status when starting Stadia. When I set up my account it asked when logged in if I wanted to open my instance or a guest. I guess if you had more profiles setup they would appear at this same time.
Family can play now. Use your buddy pass for them and find others who are willing to give you theirs if you need more than one buddy pass. I have both my wife and daughter on Stadia with their own accounts. Once family share is live, we can merge and they will still keep their saves as all that's moving is their profile. Beauty of Stadia!
@SirTacoBell I really like Stadia but it's not gonna be that easy. If it does I will send you a 2L of pure Canadian Maple syrup.
@jlggps you will not be able to generate the pass, but if you go to Facebook or Reddit, there are people there who give them away. You can always ask for one (or two) in those forums. Good luck!
@SirTacoBell - Thank you for the info, much appreciated.
@Chufu I find most of the complaining on Stadia very silly but this is pretty bad.
@Northlight do you mean the family sharing?
If you mean that: Yeah, that's definetely a feature that's highly needed. I mean, what families have to do at the moment is just crazy: You would need to have multiple Premiere editions including separate Stadia Pro's, who should have the overview about all this? Insane. Therefore I think family sharing should be giving a very high priority for Stadia. But yeah, Stadia seems to have it on their screen for "early next year", but that does probably not mean Jan-March. I am still very hopeful, but let's see...
@Chufu Yeah the statement they made is very clear and yet it didn't append. Personnally I am the only one who really play in my house but I understand were others are coming from.
The "4k promise" issue in comparison is more of a grey zone and I can believe Google statement.
July could be early this year?! Lol
I wish they would at least update us on this
I did not buy a second controller.
Have family that wants to play together, but it seems that atm Stadia is catering more single\online for the moment.
I will wait abit on buying a second controller to see how things develops.
Stadia is an awesome solution for co-op or party games (bring chromecast or the controller and play with friends in the same room with friends and family )
But as of now Stadia is not there
