Jump to Best Response

There is 7 in my house but I get a message saying too many people in my family are playing just now is there a limit on how many people in your family can play

I understand if someone is playing a game no one else can play it but what is the limit to how many people can play at the same time

@Hutchy1990 This is what I found from the help center regarding that particular message:

"Someone's already playing"

If all shared copies of a game are being played by members of your family group, the family sharing icon Ivan_0-1617202396590.png will appear instead of Play  Ivan_1-1617202396592.png when you try to launch it. Select the icon for more information.

You can wait until the other group member is finished playing, or you can try a different game. If you want to play the game right away, you can choose to:

  • Purchase the game on your own account.
  • Sign up for Stadia Pro if the game can be claimed with a Pro subscription.

Note: If more than one family member shares the same game, more than one family member will be able to play it at the same time. For example, if two family members share the same game, up to two family members can play it simultaneously.

Any chance any of the situation above applies to you? For more details you can read the article here:

I thought you could only have 5 members in your family?

I'm not aware of a limit of family members playing at the same time, we've been up as far as 3 users playing different games at the same time.

6 members in my google family which is fine cause 2 of my kids just share an account I've had 4 playing at a time today I think there's a limit of non pro members playing as only 2 accounts are pro and they can go on but only 2 non pro accounts can go on

Hi @Hutchy1990, thanks for posting about this issue. I went ahead and marked @Ivan's response as a Best Response because it provides some helpful information about family sharing, but it looks like that didn't resolve your particular issue.

Could you tell me whether this happens while family members are trying to play the same game? It is possible that if you have multiple family members who are not Pro members trying to play the same Pro games across the family group, you may run into problems.

Hi Chris I will explain what happend

My son was playing orcs must die 3 on his chromebook

My wife on monopoly on her phone

I was playing fifa 22 on chromecast with Google tv

My daughter was trying to play cakebash on chromecast ultra but she was getting a error saying that the household had too many connections to stadia it was a grey pop-up box that had the word close at the bottom right I logged her account out and logged into our other pro account (we have 2 pro accounts so we get 2 copies of games to stop kids fighting over who plays what) that seemed to fix the issue

I don't know if this is a limitation on your side or could it be because I am a google preview tester maybe just a glitch or trying something to reduce bandwidth of big families?

@Hutchy1990

Did you get a resolution on this? I am having a very similar problem for a single game (RDR2).

 Thanks for any help.
