So I'm a Founder and have been loving Stadia for almost a year now. I was really pumped for Family Sharing so I could share my account with my brother, but now that it's out, I'm getting a "country not supported" error when trying to set it up. The thing is, I already have a Google Family account and my brother's in it. This appears to be specifically a Google Play thing. WTF? I have the US set up as my country/region, and even if use a VPN, it won't let me. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey @gibran,
sorry to hear you have a problem with family sharing in your settings.
If I read correctly you are living in Puerto Rico and this is also where your brother is living and where you are playing Stadia, correct? As far as I could see, Stadia is supported in the US (except Guam, Hawaii, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), so i am not the best in geographics (sorry), but as far as I could see, Puerto Rico belongs to US and therefore according to the article Stadia should work in general for you.
So can you confirm that you are able to play Stadia games usually without a VPN?
Or are you using a VPN to be able to play Stadia?
The point is: If you are using a VPN it's probably the reason why family sharing doesn't work. If that is not the case, I wonder if it has something to do with your family. Does your brother live with you in Puerto Rico as well or is he (physically) somewhere else?
Another thing might be that family sharing is still in the process of being rolled out, so maybe the error is occuring because family sharing is not yet enabled for Puerto Rico. If that's the case: The enrollment might take up to a week (Stadia team mentioned) so a bit patience might be required.
Yes, we both live in PR, and Stadia is supported here. The problem seems to be with Family Sharing, I contacted support and they escalated my case, so I just have to wait. I know how it goes. When Stadia came out, for some reason nobody could play it in PR for about a week, until Google figured out why. ![]()
I cant get family sharinf working either, im in puerto rico. I already have a family on google play, when I try to enable it for stadia it says Family Services Unavailable.
@ChrisFromGoogle I managed to fix it, but it was not pretty, heres what I did.
1. I had to delete my current family. For some reason it doesnt work with my family already created.
2. Then I did the Stadia Family Setup, but I had to use a VPN because Puerto Rican Ip's are black listed. So I used Google One VPN and was able to set up my Family via Stadia.
3. I had to re invite all my family members again. None of them did anything, they just accepted it back.
Hope it helps. Google seems to have lots of issue with PR availability as part of US. Half of its services work, half of them doesn't. Then there is the issue where you can use United States , Puerto Rico in an address, or Puerto Rico alone. That alone treats it like 2 different places. I can access some stuff if I use United States Puerto Rico, that I cant with Puerto Rico alone. Same happens with the new GOOGLE TV, i lost access to it because it's only available in the US and they are not allowing Puerto Rico, yet it worked with Google Play Movies.
I guess they have to make up their minds lol.
funny thing. Google TV works perfectly fine for me.

@gibran are you sure?
Do you have the FOR YOU ROW ? do you have MOVIES ? do you have SHOWS ? Do the services stay marked when you select them and don't reset to inactive ?
Google TV works, but 75% of the features don't.
Below you can see how the UI should really appear. With my Liberty IP it does not appear like that. I need to use a vpn for it to work how it should.
I can't see those either without a VPN.
