Personally I think this will always be the problem: If you have a game available for purchase in the shop, at some point it might be reduced or even for free. Therefore it's a risk for everyone to buy it when it's out directly. On the other hand side: If you don't want to wait and want to play it as soon as possible, then you will pay the price.
This is nothing else than Steam, Xbox Plus, Playstation plus whatever. On every platform it works the same way. Either you purchase it as soon as possible but for a higher price or you have the patience to wait a while for either a discount or - in case of Stadia - to get it free with Stadia Pro.
One of the reasons why I personally only payed money for Mortal Kombat 11 when it was reduced the first time, because I wanted it, but not for the normal price. I was just lucky that it was one of the first games to be reduced.
@Bkusmick : I bought GYLT in late December, just before Christmas so that my kids had some additional titles to play on Christmas day. I don't feel that it is a slap in the face. I bought the founders edition, and bought a bunch of other titles.
OK, so out of all the games that I bought 2 have now made it Pro, and I was fortunate enough to be able to refund one of those titles because it hadn't been played and was within the 14 day refund window.
While I am sure that you are upset about this situation, it's nothing new. We have all known from very early on as Founders/early adopters that some of the games we have purchased will be available sooner or later for free on Pro subscription.
But if you feel that you've been swindled with the free Pro subscription and your purchase of Gylt, then let your pro subscription lapse and you can still continue to play Gylt, if you've purchased it then you can continue to play it. That doesn't really sound like a bad option although you'll only be able to play at 1080p in stereo.
The number of players shot up so as someone that really enjoyed the game (or at least the first half of it that I played), now I'm glad other players are able to experience it.
Tequila Works made the game so people can play it and have fun.
I'm confused why people think that it's less likely that exclusives would become pro titles. It actually makes sense that exclusives and/or indie games are more likely to become pro offerings than big studio titles. Big studios aren't going to want to give their games away. At minimum, they will want much bigger contracts with Google in order to allow Google to offer the games "free". And they especially won't want to give their games away on ONE platform. On the other hand, it's going to be much easier for Google to make deals for exclusives and indie titles that will be profitable for the developers without breaking the bank. Given the library size, people should assume right now that everything is up for grabs, but you should especially expect that exclusives and indie games will become pro offerings.
I'm not even going to get into the whole "if Google doesn't... I'm gonna cancel" thing. I think I've made my feelings clear about that in my own thread ![]()
Nope. The thought never even crossed my mind, but now that you have brought it up ... I think it's a ridiculous thought.
Then you probably should cancel, cuz you're probably gonna be mad a lot unless you just don't buy anything else... ![]()
@Bkusmick If you're holding your breath that they're going to extend your free pro status by 3 months then you might as well save some energy and cancel pro now, because that's not happening
I don't understand why you would be mad about a free game. You bought the game so you were able to experience it months before people that didn't purchase it. If you really are afraid about losing money then just play the free games they offer each month.
No I do not think it is.
When a new platform like this launches with the promise of giving one -two games per month free to its Pro Subscribers, you are unfortunately going to have instances early on where people have already bought some of the games due to the reduced size of the gaming catalog available currently.
It's a risk that will definitely prevent me buying games in the last week leading up to monthly free game but if had it a few weeks early Id have no problems with it becoming free.
Honestly I was just confused as to why there was only one free pro title this month. Took a few minutes to click.
