I'm trying out my new stadia pro + chromecast setup on my TV. I dove into a round of RoR2, a game I have played a ton on PC, for maybe an hour or so.
I paused the game and had to step away for a bit, and came back to my chromecast having gone back to its main screen. I pressed the stadia button on my controller to turn it on, and entered the controller link code again on that screen a few times. After about 30 seconds or so of doing nothing it finally transitioned to the stadia loading screen.
I sat there expecting to be placed right where I left off, but instead I was shown the main stadia screen, with the option to launch RoR2 again from scratch.
Is this normal? Or did I do something wrong? If this is indeed expected, doesn't this make a game like RoR2, a game that cannot be traditionally saved, impossible to play outside of long sessions??? Looking online, I'm seeing some differing info when I search for how stadia saves games, how it's on the dev, based on the type of game, whether its online, etc. Hoping to get some answers here if anyone knows.
Unfortunately risk of rain 2 is still as the developer intended. No saving at all. It is a design choice, and matches similar games, but it definitely means you need to set aside a ton of time for a single session.
