I've just set up my Stadia and decided to try Destiny 2 as my first game (using chromecast) After creating my character it launched me straight into single player story mode. I was happy with my first 10 mins gameplay. However it isn't clear to me how I can play in PvP / multiplayer mode. Am I missing something obvious?
It's not clear either how to pause or save progress in single player mode.
Other than me not being able to use it first experience was very good.
@haytona Destiny 2 used to have a more structured progression, but since they went free to play, they've changed things up that can make new players overwhelmed. Without spoiling the story too much, what I would suggest you do after doing the first intro quest is to talk to Amanda in the hangar, then start the Red War campaign. That's basically the original starting campaign of the original Destiny 2.
I highly suggest spending some time in the campaign before jumping to PvP or other multiplayer modes. As for save, the game basically autosave after almost everything that you do, so you don't have to worry about losing significant progress.
Destiny 2 is a live service game, even if you're playing it on your own, its not possible to Pause it
Once you've done the training mission you can hold the 3 dot button to get the menu up, go to destinations and then you can pick crucible for pvp
Hi - Once you have completed the initial opening story missions you will get access to the wider Destiny world via the director/destinations screen. Here you will find multiplayer pve strikes and crucible pvp. For more detail on where to look and all the various activities head on over to the destiny reddit pages
Hi @CommanderZavala and @Ivan, sorry to pile on, but I have the same question. I'm interested in forming a fireteam with friends to play co-op (PVE). I understand there are "tutorial" missions that need to be completed before they let you team up. But does anyone remember exactly when that is? I've been playing for about an hour and I still don't have the option to travel to the Tower, which is where I think I need to go for PVE missions. Any guidance is appreciated!
@Machingon I assume this is the first time you're playing Destiny 2 and currently doing the mission in Cosmodrome? If yes, that's the new light mission. You just need to keep progressing, and eventually you'll be brought in to the tower.
My original answer is no longer valid, since Bungie got rid of the old campaigns, and only provide the new light mission for free to play players.
Cool, thanks a lot, @Ivan! I am indeed a newbie. I was hoping it would be obvious, but because of the expansions/changes/differences between Stadia and other platforms, it's impossible to get a good answer by searching the internet.
I'll keep plugging away (and tell my friends, who are also newbies, to do the same) until we get to the tower and can team up. Thanks again!
I too have been a bit confused how I progressed from story mode into the cosmodrome. I've explored the entire area and basically just in a loop of playing public events in the area but I can't seem to progress any further. There's no new quests or other destinations from what I can see. Is there something I should be doing? I'm playing the free version. Thanks.
