Controller input often disabled, reset and ignored.

Jump to Best Response

PC, keyboard or xbox one controller. Wifi.

Pixel 2XL, razer Raiju mobile. Wifi.

Chromecast ultra ethernet on tv and stadia controller wifi.

Every couple of seconds controller input is reset and ignored. For example, walking forward, hold forward button, game stops walking forward, untill I release the button and try pressing forward again. Same with racing game. When an input is held, it becomes disabled, reset and ignored. Can happen every couple of seconds. Where I have to constantly release and press again in order to prevent the disabling of the intented controller input.

On chromecast ethernet, this happens less often. Perhaps the wifi connection is unstable. The input latency is good tho, very good. Download upload speed all good. But everytime there is a small lag, the controller inputs are all completely disabled, reset and ignored, untill I press my controllers again, wether it be keyboard, or gamepad. PC or pixel2xl.

Makes it unplayable when it happens as often as every couple of seconds. Where my controls stop responding too often, it becomes unplayable. But it can also happen every minute or so, where sometimes for example, I'm in the middle of a race, and racing to the finish and the throttle is suddenly released as all controls are reset again, causing the game vehicle to slow down untill I press my controls again.

Or in game movements are suddenly disabled when out of nowhere controls are disabled again. Untill I press it again. Mostly for actions that require constant controller input, held. Like walking, throttle, actions that require to hold a button, these actions are often disabled in the middle of the intended activation of them. For example "Hold X button to open chest, in ghost recon." Something as simple as this, can often get interrupted, due to the random disabling of controller input.

@Greenhill Since the issue continues across multiple screens and controllers, that makes me think there might be something happening at the network level causing the input packets to get dropped. Is this a home network which you control?

Have you looked over the network troubleshooting information here?

Thank you, I also think this might be a network issue. I will have a look at that link.

@Greenhill Did you find a fix?

Hi, yeah. It's a network wifi connection issue. 5g mobile data works better. Otherwise an improvement in wifi connection. Like bringing connection point closer to device for more stability. Or a booster or extender that is closer to device. It's just a wifi interference issue I think.

Lowering stream quality may help in temporary situations that may not find another solution. Like going 720p mobile quality. This may be of help. But usually its just wifi interference. Bad wifi connection. Or other wifi device cross connecting  with other signals interfering with your signal. That was my conclusion for my personal controller interuption experiences.
