Why is it that when my controller needs to be plugged in, I have to turn it on and link it before being able to plug it in, because if I plug it in before, the controller will not link, this is a problem when a controller dies mid game, as I need to plug it in and wait until it has enough charge that I can link it and plug it in again.
My hunch is that the controller assumes that it will be using the wired connection while the USB cable is connected rather than searching for a WiFi connection.
Are you charging off of a standard power adapter or some manner of computing device? I wonder if that might make a difference.

Yeah, I’ve got the controller plugged into my monitor. I think you’ve got it on that one, thanks.
@Honesty21 I just plugged a power meter to my Stadia controller, and it doesn't look like the controller does any rapid charging. It will charge at 5V @ 0.5A no matter what it's connected to. I typically charge it off of whatever Google USB-C charger I have handy, but based on the measurements it would charge just as well from a standard USB-A port.
@codesplice Yes I've tried several Google C chargers. Im at a roadblock.
@Honesty21 What's the roadblock? The controller should charge from just about anything, it just charges very slowly compared to phones or other devices which leverage USB PD.
Listen I talked to Google support online and they couldn't even figure it out I did everything they asked me to and it didn't work so and it was charging for hours and hours and charge the other day so I don't know what to tell you@
But I appreciate the help! Have a good day. @codesplice
