Is Google working at all with the developers who have new games coming out that are slated for Stadia as well as other platforms? The reason I ask, is that recently developers are offering pre-order sales and deals on their own sites, for all the other platforms (PC/Xbox/PS) but there are no pre-order options for a Stadia code or anything like that.
Two current examples:
1. CD Projekt Red had last week and may still have a pre-order sale for Cyberpunk 2077 on their home website, a game which is also coming to Stadia. But their sale does not include any way to pre-order for the Stadia platform.
2. Bethesda is right now having a pre-order sale for Doom Eternal, that includes a copy of Doom 64 as a bonus. I don't know if Doom 64 is coming to Stadia or not, but we know Doom Eternal is. Aside from the option for a free copy of Doom 64, there's just no option to pre-order Doom Eternal for Stadia at all.
It REALLY feels like no one at Google is working hand-in-hand with the developers. We haven't even been able to get an answer from Typhoon Studios which Google Acquired, as to whether or not Journey to The Savage Planet will be coming to Stadia. To me this seems crazy. How is Stadia going to grow or survive if the developers are treating it as if it does not even exist?
Who at Google is responsible for the developer relationships that are crucial to Stadia's success? Whoever it is, is doing a really... really... bad job.
The pre-order "bonus" of a discount is irrelevant to us.
Both Ghost Recon and Borderlands launched with discounts. Cyberpunk and Doom will probably launch with discounts, giving players actually time to see reviews or try the game elsewhere before committing to buying it on Stadia.
@mcnichoj I disagree. In some cases the pre-order discounts are 30% or better, and as we've seen with our own eyes, the Pro discounts we've been seeing here are good compared to REGULAR game prices, but they fall short compared to developer's sales prices in their own stores and in other platforms. I want parity when it comes to pricing. I want parity in price as well as availability.
Also like I said... I think it's a problem when developers are hawking their advertisements with great excitement during pre order events and all of the other platforms are getting mentions and Stadia is not. It's bad business any way you look at it.
@Xevioso typhoon studios will bring journey to the savage 100%. I have no proof but it is not possible that they pass. The fact they're not telling is an evidence that there are things going behind the scene but they're kept secret until they decide to deliver. I just hope they're not waiting for E3, that's way too far. Hopefully February they hold a Stadia Connect when Stadia base is available to everyone. However, Stadia team didn't even care to hold a Stadia Connect in November for the launch of the FE so I don't even know... Their strategy sucks so hard but i guess we have to do with it for now.
@Nilas yeah, I agree, I actually do think it's coming to Stadia too. But just like all the other developers, typhoon is posting a lot of hype on Twitter and other social media and websites about their new games and they mention all the other platforms in their hype. I think that becomes a problem that they don't even add things like "coming to Stadia soon as well!" Or something simple, just to spread the word about this platform too.
Communication has just been terrible so far.
I'm sure the internal word from Google and every housed dev teams right now is to not tell anything. Them not willing to confirm the release of the game on Stadia shouldn't worry you. It isn't being ported immediately.Typhoon has to complete the development and sell a game on other machines, They'll work on the Stadia port later. Google has an event to prepare and don't want to be spoiled by their own teams.
