Sadly it is no new titles and one have been already been on discount (rdr 2)
Rage 2 gave gotten like 75% off on deluxe edition.
But i find this behavior from google very counter productive, why buy games for full price ?
Do not as a company too sell the products for as much as possible.?
As of now as a costumer i feel very uneasy buying a new game for full price ( and that is not have working as intended from a salepoint of view)
My guess on next free game is either gyld or thumper ( only games that been available since release and that not been discounted (with Tomb raider bf discount\ free pro sub incident fresh in mind)
Rdr2 was never on sale before.
And these sales work, i bought games when they were on sale, and i’d never ever buy games full price, especially THOSE prices.
And i don’t know why you say it’s counterproductive. Man, they promised pro discounts so they deliver. That’s actually great. It may look weird because the library is so small, at this rate they’ll have discounted everything by next month. They need to bring games yeah, but they have to keep the discounts going.
I hope Gylt and FM2020 will be the next free games.
I could have swear that redemtion 2 was on bf sale ( like 20% or something)
But if not it is my mistake and if so i do apologise ![]()
But you are proving my point when you say that you never buy a game full price.
Yes sales are awesome!
But as a business " sale" can not be the main revenue then something is not right
Some of these were already on sale. The big sale is Rage 2 which is on sale on other platforms for about the same price. That's good at least they are offering a fair holiday sale price. I wish the publishers would match all their sales though. I really want to buy ac Odyssey on Stadia. But I'm not buying it at full price. The Ubisoft store had it on sale yesterday for $42 (ultimate edition) and it's still $119 here. That's sad since Ubisoft is supposed to be one of Google's Stadia partners. But I guess some of these sales have been good. I bought Grid and Shadow of Tomb Raider at sale prices here.
As I said the issue is not about sales, it’s about small library. You would never wonder about Google business if the store had hundreds of games.
Right now Google wants people to try stadia and buy games. If you buy games, you actually may stick in 2020 and more.
Google probably buys the discounts for us. Publishers are happy with the cash.
it’s good business.
@Nilas I disagree partly. I think the issue is sales for sure. I know they have a small library. They had to know when they decided to launch the week before black Friday that people would expect them to have competitive holiday sales... Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Green Monday, Christmas etc. And like I said, some of the prices have been good. The pro prices have been really good when everyone else is at regular price. I have bought games myself. But I think they can do a little better on the holiday sales.
I DO AGREE that they are trying to get people to buy games so they're hooked to the platform. That's why it's important to make decisions in matching holiday prices. A lot of people save their money for the big holiday sales. Like I said, Ubisoft has AC Odyssey Ultimate for $42 for the holiday. Ubisoft has been working with Google since the beta. So it's surprising we haven't seen any discount or matching sales on that title which is still a very popular games and one that would definitely help tie more people to the platform.
I'm not trying to complain about the pricing overall. Some of the Pro deals have been great and Google doesn't set the prices the developers and publishers do. It would be nice to see those people match the holiday sales they have on other platforms on this one too.
AC Odyssey ultimate edition (99,99 euros) was on sale at 35 € at the launch of stadia.
@Nilas No it wasn't... Not in the US at least. The standard edition was $39.99 ... possibly $34.99?. Either way... The ultimate edition was $60 ($59.99) US, don't know what it was in Euros. I considered it at the time, and it was a good price considering most other sites didn't have it on sale at all. But it also felt silly passing $60 for a game that Google gave us the PC version to already (if you were in the beta). AND... in hindsight maybe a mistake in my part? I was hoping for a better sale on it. If the ultimate edition dropped to $39.99, I would've bought it for sure.
@Nilas Anyway, my point it's not to argue with you. I agree with some of what you say. I think that when the other stores are having holiday sales, if possible those sales need to be matched here whenever they can. And maybe they can't... Maybe Google just can't get the developers to do that yet. All I'm saying is I wish they could.
Also, I was wrong about the base game price. It was 29.99 US. But the ultimate was $59.99. I don't know if they allow external site posting here, but if you Google it there's an Android Police article that lists all the launch deal prices.
Still it looks like I should've bought it then compared to the $119 regular price. That's on me. But I'll keep praying for an even better sale, lol!
Nah, I was wrong. I found the price in euros were 50 € for ultimate and 35 euros for the base game. My bad.

Yeah ofc with a bigger library the sales would not cannibilaze on itself.
But as a new service it is usually is the first impression which forms the attitude forward ( as never pay full price for a game).
But i am also probably reading (a bit more then neccessary) to it all as i am working in this field ![]()
I personally love the sales. Keep them coming. Anything 50% or more I'm buying.
