I have been trying my best to contribute time towards Baldur's Gate 3's early access, but I've run into a deal breaker that I don't see being addressed or acknowledged by Stadia. I, like many gamers, tend to customize my hotkeys in games. With Stadia, my experience has been that if I change hotkeys during a session, the next time I start up a session, hotkeys have been restored to default. It's a pretty large annoyance, but I've tended to just suck it up and set my keybindings back each time I played. With Baldur's Gate 3, because it is in early access, we are often met with crashes and other errors that require logging back into a new session. This means that when I sit down and try to play, I sometimes end up spending 30+ minutes of a 2 hour session of gaming setting my keybindings back to what I want them to be. Even if this issue isn't immediately resolved, I'd at least like some reply from Stadia about when it might be dealt with. I've been tempted to create a macro to set my keybindings for me, but I've been hesitant of investing the time to teach myself how, because I was thinking this was such a inhibitive issue that it might be addressed any day. Sadly, that hasn't been the case.
Same thing for The Division 2 ![]()
I had this idea on Baulder's Gate 3 Forums but I'd like to put it here as well.
My best guess is that key bindings are saved locally and are not in the saved game since they are user preference and not game specific. Since Stadia only cares about keeping your saved games, all of the other local files get lost.
I know individual games have there configurations stored in unique places in there file structures but Stadia could allow developers to point to there local configurations and have those saved on the cloud as well. As a unique gaming platform Stadia is going to have to work with developers and provide tools for integration or it will fall behind as a viable alternative for serious gamers.
Same thing in Dead by Daylight
I don't have a middle mouse button, so to be able to move the camera I have to change the keybindings every time I start Baldurs Gate 3.
A fix would be greatly appreciated ![]()
Plus one!
So... Are these boards just here to make us THINK Google is paying attention? This post has been up for nearly a month, and this keybindings issue has been present since the Stadia platform first went live. Surely, it's not too much to want to be able to use custom keybindings in 2020 on a platform Google designed specifically for gaming. This is absurd.
Good news! In the latest version for Baldur's Gate 3 it seems this issue is fixed (at least for me).
I started a session to try out Patch 4 and changed the keybindings for turning the camera left & right, but then didn't have time to finish setting up my character, closed the session and started a new one today, and low and behold the keybindings stayed the same!
Tested it and can confirm saving keybindings now works! Awesome!
