I've been playing FFXV for around 18 hours and suddenly the game won't allow me to save. It gives the error: "Could not save game. Play will continue, but current progress is not saved." I tried reloading the instance, and waiting a while, no dice. Tried reloading previous saves and get the same issue. Anyone else experience this? Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/flBEs4Y

Hi everybody,
Thanks for stopping by the Stadia Community Forum. We're aware of an issue affecting game saves on Final Fantasy XV. The team is actively investigating this issue, and I'll be sure to provide the latest updates.

Deleting photos only seemed to be a band-aid, because the issue did reoccur for me, and even happened when I started a new game. That's a shame, it was fun while it lasted.
FFXV always surprised me in the negative way when I saw that the PS4 save file was taking nearly 1 Go of disk space... I suppose it's the same for the Stadia version and I'd think that Google don't want to allow that much disk space for save files ? Well, someone has to do something and I hope it will come to a fix soon for all of you guys ![]()
I also get the same bug. It started at about 17 hours in... in the middle of a mainline quest, right before a boss battle so the LEAST convenient time.
I was able to save again with the workaround discussed here: https://piunikaweb.com/2019/11/28/stadia-final-fantasy-xv-save-comrades-bugs/
Basically you stay at a caravan and then immediately camp at a campsite. After that you save your game manually, but only in a slot that you have saved in before. After that the game saves normally. This seems to work at any caravan/campsite combo. Why... I have no idea.
Inconveniently you have to use this workaround every time you reload the game.
For the first 17 hours it played beautifully, now I'm starting to find other gamebreaking bugs. It's like no one play-tested this beyond 15 hours in.
I received refund.
I was really enjoying the game until it happened. I hope they fix it so I buy the game again.
I just had some success with a different workaround (didn’t see that one before).
I’m also exactly 15 hours in and the bug occurred. The Trailer/Campground method didn’t work, neither did the deleting photos method.
What I tried was the following: Go into the save-menu -> Try to save manually -> Get an error message -> The slot I tried to save on goes blank -> Try to save manually on the next slot -> Get an error message -> slot goes blank. Did this a few times and on the fourth slot I tried, it finally worked. Maybe that’ll work for some other users too. It’s a nasty and inconvenient workaround though.
Hope it helps someone.
//Edit: Looks like this solved the problem for me entirely. Autosaves and manual saves are working normal again (at least for now).
(I attached a screenshot to clarify what I’m talking about)
It worked temporaly for me to delete some pictures. But after i started the next mission i got the same error. It seems that the max storage size is to small and should be increased
The support chat told me its a known Problem and they contacted square enix and hope for a quick fix
I hope we can get an acknowledgement from @GraceFromGoogle or other official source that they are really aware of this problem and actively working on a solution here. I discovered these threads when I already clocked 10 hours on FF15 and I don't want to have my time wasted on a soon appearing save bug.
It seems to me that both parties are at fault, first SE that this bug exists in the first place and also Stadia, that they are not giving enough storage space for the save files, which can get huge in FF15 (up to 1 GB).
But it doesn't concern me as a customer, whose fault it is, I just want both parties collobarating on a solution instead of pointing fingers to each other.
This is really bad press for a new service like Stadia.
this is the response I got from Square-enix, I just feel like nothing is being done about it, will be returning my founders edition. Never been that frustrated in years
@FoxesWell, your rep isn't even aware what Stadia is, because he just keeps mentioning Google Play. It's on Google to contact SE and sort this issue, since only they know the right channels to speak to.
By the way when i chatted with Chris from the Google support to get a refund, he said that Google contacted Square Enix and they are working on it so yes, actions are made somewhere. Do not think they will let it go .
Good news everyone, GracefromGoogle announced
"Final Fantasy XV -- A number of users are reporting issues pertaining to saved games not working properly on Final Fantasy XV. The team is aware of it and we're working on a fix."
Hope the best for all of you!
i feel they've said that already (pretty sure they did) i wonder what the issue is regarding that since the last time they updated about it was a few days ago and it seems to still be happening, along with audio complaints I'm seeing frequently now.

Thankful it's fixed, I'm wondering why there is no pro discount anymore?
This is great news! Thank you very much!
I would be interested on the technical background of the fix.
Did SE provide the fix or was it just necessary to give more space to the save files on the Stadia servers?
I thought the fix would take longer since this is something that's been running for a while on other machines.
And I regret my refund because now the game is much expensive. I'll wait for a new discount to buy it back. Pff, in this situation they should have extended the discount.
@Ravenlock Hugely agree here- not only did they turn around a fix very quickly, but remember: the pricing is still very competitive. It's not a great feeling to refund a game and "lose" the deal, but we all knew well ahead of time the Pro discount would end 12/3. Anyone who didn't want to gamble on Stadia lost this time.
But hey - $40 for the Royal edition plus all DLC plus exclusive Stadia content is still better price than ANY other market. On PS4, you have to pay $35 for Royal edition, plus $5 for Ardyn and $10 for Comrades. On Steam, you still pay $35 plus $5 for Ardyn. Seems reasonable to me!
