Can't choose resolution on PC

I can't choose my resolution. This is 100% game breaker. I run a 21:9 monitor, some games don't support this i know. Destiny it works just fine on PC, but all i can do is pick boundaries. I know it just launched but this would be something I would assume any pc game would have on day number 1.

@Kargion Yeah ultra wide screen is not supported for now unfortunately. Once you go wide, you can't go back.. lol. It's definitely something I'd like to see eventually.

My main issue here is its not like the game it self does not support it. Something like Blizzard's Star Craft has strict resolution guide lines so you have always gotten black lines. This is a game that supports it now. It's not like they have to build it from scratch, its already built. Why put a game on a platform and remove functionality that is already there. This begs the question, why on earth would I use stadia to play destiny. I can get native 4k on a console or pc. I can get ultra wide resolutions on PC. This is the market they are fighting. They need to get me to think this is the better choice. Just being able to play it on any device is not enough. Sorry for the rant. I knew going founders there would be things like this, but i think its important that they realize some of this. If most of this is not fixed before new consoles this will just disappear into the wind. They really need to be offering a better alternative.

Some would argue, will if you have a big gaming pc and consoles this is not for you.  I beg to differ.  Those are the people that spend the most money on games.  You need them to want to use your service over everyone else.

@Kargion Just want to reply to your last statement. True, if you're big into PC and consoles, you might spend money on games. But honestly, when you're home, why would you use Stadia instead of playing it from your high specs PC?

I think the benefit of Stadia is availability. So you can play anywhere. When you're traveling, for example. And from my experience, I've found quite a few of my friends that don't generally game, doesn't own gaming consoles, gaming PC, suddenly they were interested in Stadia. I was just looking at my Stadia friends list and most of them were part of this demographic.

Regarding the lack of feature currently included. I think they're just taking baby steps right now. Make sure the early adopters are having a good experience. Get the basic stuff working, then they'll implement more features over time.

I see your point but I feel like instead of hitting the "on the go gamer" you'd want the hardcore gamer who will be the one who spends the majority of the time in your ecosystem and probably promoting it to those casual friends.  I feel if they get the hardcore games the casual gamers, the on the go gamers will all come in droves.

I'm not sure how enormous the market is for people who don't have alot of time to jump into a console, they also kind of marketed it as a 4k experience..so on and so forth.

@Ivan

I'll break down some of the items you brought up.

"But honestly, when you're home, why would you use Stadia instead of playing it from your high specs PC"

Because I would have to buy the game twice.  It's not like i can buy it once and play it on my big rig and stadia on the go.  I would have to purchase the same game twice, with no real option that any saved data would be on both platforms unless that game supported it.

"When you're traveling, for example. And from my experience, I've found quite a few of my friends that don't generally game, doesn't own gaming consoles, gaming PC, suddenly they were interested in Stadia. "

This is true, but that market is smaller than the actually gamer market.  You need the hardcore and general gamers on board.  They for one, will not buy the game twice.  You need to get them on your service, and to do that it needs to be better than what they got now.

"Regarding the lack of feature currently included. I think they're just taking baby steps right now. Make sure the early adopters are having a good experience. Get the basic stuff working, then they'll implement more features over time. "

I agree, but resolution would be classifed as industry standard.  It's not like voice chat or friends list.  It's expected in every game on pc.  No one talks to their friends and goes, "Man I hope I can change my resolution in this game".  This is because it's industry standard.  When you leave out industry standard features it always throws red flags.

The red flag this is saying is they don't want people to know what resolution the game is running at. Now this could 100% not be the case, but this is what people will assume.  For Destiny, we know now that it is not running native 4k.  Its an upscaled version, and thats direct from Destiny's camp.  This is becuase stadia sold us that all games that supported 4k would run 4k at 60fps (pendening your internet connection and subscription tier).

Your point though on the non gamer's being interested in this is a very good one.  I just don't think those user will sustain a platfrom.

So far good discussion on this in the thread, lets keep it going.  Anyone else got some thoughts?

@Kargion You know, I always thought myself as a medium-casual gamer, but what you said just made me think again. That's my own term I guess, but basically I don't consider myself hardcore gamer, but I'm a bit above casual. I actually have bought games multiple times just so I can play in multiple platforms. I own Diablo 3 on PC, PS4 and Switch. Monster Hunter World on PC and PS4. And a few other games. I guess I wouldn't really mind subscribing to Pro so I can play Destiny 2 Stadia on the go. I'm dreaming of a time where I can just buy one license for a game, and I'll be able to play it in whatever platform I choose.
