I haven't been able to play stadia in 6 days because of this. My internet is fast enough but I keep getting booted. It's almost like clock work... a few minutes in an I get a warning, a few minutes later an I get kicked. I've done everything to trouble shoot it but still no luck. can someone from the stadia team explain to me what's happening? why does it keep running on the app even with the message saying the connection is not stable? I love stadia but this is getting to be too much. Can you add an option to override the network stability? please do something I have hundreds of dollar invested and a YouTube channel depending on this. I time stamped the video to make it easier.
can we please promote this post so we can get some answers
Hi @lvp1980
Try this steps here Stadia Troubleshooter
Thanks for the help but there is no option for when you get kicked off due to "unstable internet connection" I still went through each step and nothing :*(
This might not help you but as I had trouble with it:
Do you or your neighbours use Devolos/Powerlines etc.?
These things can be hell for your or other's internet connections.
I'm not sure what that is but I live in a condo and am using the setup provided by spectrum.
It's basically internet via power cables in your house.
Some people use it if they have bad WiFi or want to somehow extend their LAN network without worrying about new cables.
Simply never do it ![]()
Doesn't seem to be your problem anyway.
It's not but thank you
It's not telling you your connection isn't fast enough, it's telling you that it's not stable enough.
Is the problem random or does it tend to occur at certain times?
Run a speed test and check your jitter levels. Speak to Spectrum. Unless you've changed anything, this is likely on your ISP.
Hiya @lvp1980,
My guess is that @Grovelhog is on the right track with your issue.
Did you try a plugin like Stadia Enhanced or Stadia+ to check out the drops when streaming on a Chrome browser?
I tried Stadia+ with the network monitor on but it doesn't show any drops etc. I'll try Stadia Enhanced next
Thanks for sharing this, I just discovered new world
I did a speed test on the video I posted earlier at there were no issues. When I change serves I can get as much as 400mbs but when I run the game it has trouble pulling 8mbs. I can play a 4k video on youtube and pull 150mbs and I have no issues. I'm thinking it's the way stadia evaluates the speed that is the issue since I get the message that the internet is not stable but the game continues to play in the background.
Hi @lvp1980, quick question I don't know if you have answered this, have you used an ethernet cable connected to a Chromecast? Or have you only tried using the mobile app?
both, also on a laptop, chromebook and desktop and I get kicked out of all of them at some point
If you play on PC/Laptop I suggest using Chrome Canary. Don't install any plug-ins. See how it runs. I had the exact same issue when playing on my laptop using Chrome. Internet plenty fast enough like yours.
Thanks for this I didnt know that this exists
I suggest using a tool line WinMTR and run a test for 5 to 10 minutes or however long it takes for the issue to usually occur. Or perhaps run a WinMTR test while playing a game and let it run until the session finally stops, then review the data in the test. It may help indicate where the issue lies as it could be an upstream provider issue. However, its most likely your local network. Are you using an ISP provided modem and router combo unit, or have you purchased your own modem and router? If you are running an ISP owned device, they could have pushed a firmware update that changed some settings in your firewall/router that are now negatively affecting your performance.
Also PingPlotter is a tool that is far more advanced than WinMTR, and its not a free tool, but it does have a free trial window that you might use to see if you can figure out where the issue lies.
I suggest posting the make and model of your modem and router and maybe there is some settings that need to be adjusted.
Also, Bufferbloat can really negatively impede performance over a period of time. You may want to check out the following site to see if you have some bufferbloat issues locally:
https://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/
I will also say that I was having some bufferbloat issues a few months ago, but then my Netgear Orbi system started exhibiting lots of other issues, so I updated the device to its most recent firmware version, then I factory reset it and set it up again. Afterwards, no buffer bloat and better performance in general. Sometimes consume grade networking hardware just needs to be wiped and refreshed.
