Buddy pass disappeared

Jump to Best Response

I have used one of my Buddy passes and still have one left. However, I have just check as giving the last one to a friend and I no longer have the envelope icon in my Stadia app so cant access it.

Any ideas?

Hi all -- sorry to hear about your troubles with Buddy Passes. There is a three-month (90 days) window after a Founder's code has been redeemed to send the Buddy Pass before it expires. You may discover more information on that here.

@M1KEY

IIRC they have a 3 month limit both in the app and once the code has been generated.  If they aren't used within that time period then they are gone.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

I never knew they had an expiry date! That sucks!

Yeah, but I would expect to see the base edition get released soon so not such a massive deal imho, although for some not having the 3 month trial of Pro will no doubt be the end of the world. lol

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Haha! Very true. Some people definitely want everything for nothing.

Anyway, was just trying to do my “Good Samaritan” bit during these crazy times.

Stay safe!

I wouldn't consider this wanting everythign for nothing both of mine had dissapeared and the way i see it at this moment I paid way too much for nothing. I have Gig speed internet connection and I have bought a few games as well as claimed the ones that were free that i hadn't already bought prior to the free month and I can't even play the games without the games either lagging to the point you cant play or having a lot of visual or audio tearing. I hadn't used my buddy pass yet because I didn't want to send it to someone who would jump in have this experience and then think that there is not potential for this platform. I was about to send it today to someone who would use it and make the most out of it but now its gone. the way i see it I paid $200 for a founders addition of false promisies and then one of the few things that had been deliverd as promised were taken away. also now they are have the free version but you can't play in 4k well you can't play in 4k with the paid version so whats the difference. this isn't a case of wanting everythig for free this is a case of not living up to what you are selling taking the money and then taking back some of what was paid for.  Although I agree that these days everybody typically wants it all for free but at the same time there are a lot of companies out there that want all the money and don't deliver on their end. I'm not saying that is what this is and I really hope Stadia can become how it was invisioned but right now they are taking the money and not delivering any product or even half functioning service. Also the only thing that makes this somewhat of a big deal is that this would allow the new person a chance to get a couple games along with it to try out instead of finding themselves in a situation like i did paying an overpriced amount for a few old games that don't run as advertiesed on top of the initial founders buy in fee.

@CptnSaveAClam seems like your experience has been pretty bad. I wonder if there's some latency or leak in your internet supply? I have 200, and I've had an ALMOST lag free experience so far. Does your router actually support your gig internet? That might be something to look into also. Just because your company is sending you a gig doesn't mean you're getting it or using it.

As far as the buddy passes, they did say that they'd expire. I reminded the people I gave mine to that they would expire 3 months after I generated the code to them. Fortunately, as it stands today, anyone can join up right now and get 2 months free, so that's not bad at all. And also 2 free months for us existing users, which is great!

Lastly, I think Stadia is still a long way from what it's envisioned to be, but I also think it's pretty darn good. Hopefully your experience improves. I think for those of us who have had a smooth experience, it's been really good even though all the features aren't in place yet. I hope everybody who uses Stadia gets to see that kind of experience.

Sorry I guess my comment came off a bit more agro than I had intended. If i was as bitter about the whole thing as I sounded I wouldn't have continued with the subscription. I'm not really sure whats going on with my connection because when I'm using stadia on my pc majority of the time i still have these issues but not as bad as when i would use the chromecast. all of the connections are directly plugged into the router and yes the motem and router are rated to push gig speeds. when i'm on the pc and having issues I'll often close that tab and then do a speed test and it will be in the 7-800s DL speed. so I'm not really sure where else to check. as far as the codes I hadnt generated mine I never clicked on the envelope to get mine because i didn't want to waste it. but you are right with it not being a big deal now I hadn't realized they got 2 months of it for free i thought it was just what they had stated the free model would be back when it had the soft launch. I do have high hopes of this continuing to improve and plan to stick around a bit longer but it's hard for me to be excited or want to put money into the games knowing that it could get shut down without any real heads up and your just left with nothing. it's the whole double edged sword of streaming games without the additional perk of owning a copy to play on your pc offline. but it is what it is and I would probably be more likely to purchase games if i figure out a way to fix these issues i'm having.  Thanks for the response, stay safe and have a great day.

You are correct, Here's the link with the fine print, where it states passes are only valid three months.

Had I known, I would have jumped to use my extra pass faster.

Hello,

I too had two buddy passes and did not use either. I did not generate them because I knew they had a time clock at that point. Did I miss the boat?

you're a founder, you have three months to send your Buddy Pass code to a friend before it expires, and your friend has 3 months from the day you sent them the code to redeem it.

THATS AFTER YOU SENT YOUR BUDDY YOUR CODE IT EXPIRES, WE NEVER SENT THEM
