Borderlands 3 - Bugs on Stadia

I believe many people bought Borderlands 3 during the latest sale and I think it would be good to collect all bugs, the game currently has on Stadia. Maybe Gearbox is able to fix them soon.

Here's my list after only 2 hours playtime:

 

  • The logo splashes of 2K, Gearbox and AMD at the beginning of the game play back very low-res and choppy. Their audio is extremely loud compared to the game itself and everything else on Stadia.
  • When logging into my user account, the game freezes after about 5 secs and may or may not throw me into the main menu thereafter.
  • The HDR and screen size settings don't save properly. Changes only apply to one game session. After ending the game and loading it back up again, they are back to the default values. All other setting changes are saved correctly.
  • During gameplay the game stutters a lot! (in both 4K/30 and 1080p/60) I wouldn't call it frame drops, rather visual micro-freezes. This happens especially when a new area is loaded, when you aim with a weapon and randomly during in-game cutscenes.
  • FMV playback (the comic intro scene) is very choppy. It looks like it's running at 10-15 fps only. The audio is stable though.
  • Lots and lots of texture pop-in, which is quite embarrassing on server class SSD's.

 

I can safely say that none of the issues are related to my internet connection or the way Stadia performs at my home. The game seems to be a lot of fun otherwise, but the experience is not where it should be yet. Not even for 50% off.

I confirm all these problems.

 

I recommend to users that if they experience any problem in any Stadia game

 

At the end of the session, if your experience questionnaire appears, use the "acceptable" option This will lead you to a submenu with several error options that you may experience.

 

It is the best way to report bugs.

This didn't happen to me with Borderlands 2 So by my usual way to proceed will be to include GearBox in my list of developers who will never acquire a title. It is the only way to learn to develop fluid games without FPS drops or freezes.

 

No freezing, not 59 FPS even once. To suffer a single freeze is unacceptable and they have to learn to give high quality products.

 

We do not want cheap or imitation products

Same here. I have 200Mbps connection. I play on balanced settings(1080p 60fps). It is choppy and unplayable. Other games are fine. Just Borderlands 3. Suggestions anyone?

After all this time, borderlands 3 is not played in me. I have a 250mbit line and it's the only game with this problem.

I can also confirm these issues...
I also own B3 on Epic Games and there, there is only the Signing in Freeze Issue mentioned... The other points seem to be Stadia related...
I like Stadia very much but B3 especially looks and runs way way better on PC-Offline...

  • Visual settings have to be set every time I log in. Gearbox refused to audit the issue unless I sent them a video. It never got resolved as a result. 
  • Over the last two weeks (last two weeks of May 2020), game progress is never saved up to the moment I log off. In some cases, I have lost up to 40 minutes of leveling/progression. This also impacts lost items. My Pearl disappeared outright with a green relic in its place. I have paid for upgrades, or I have done a respec, but when I log in, none of those actions were saved. 
  • Over the same period, the game crashes regularly with a Stadia generated "Your Game Has A Glitch" prompt. 
  • Over the same period, the Freddie sequence where he gives you crap about killing his bot (the first time you meet him), plays over and over, well into Trashlandia. 
  • Over the same period, lag that only first appeared when logging onto the Stadia version of BL3 is now a regular occurrence during graphically intense combat scenes. 
  • Over the same period- the quality of gameplay has dramatically fallen off, almost making the game unplayable at times. 
  • The loot vault is apparently account-wide, when starting my 3rd toon, the starting price was over 2M, but it almost never saves more than a few items, more often than not, just one. 
  • Cartels played fine when it first came out and yet but during this same noted time, maybe even a little before, the game always froze when playing cartel, so I gave up. On my main and on my second toon, never an issue. 
  • Gearbox, as of a few weeks ago, still did not have designated Stadia space for bugs on their platform. For me, this is a huge ethical issue. Our hard-earned money for the game and DLCs is just as important as anyone else's moola. My experience with Gearbox CSRs in the past (pre-BL3) has always been exceptional, not the case with BL3, just the opposite. Record-breaking sales and Gearbox service gets worse? This is the biggest bug of them all. Support your Stadia customers and communicate with them. Respect they don't all have time to make, upload, and send you videos. 
  • Gearbox gold keys - new ones, often do not include Stadia. See my previous comment for my thoughts on this issue.

I finished the main campaign so far and I've got to say that I still had a good time with the game. I'd call it awesome if the Stadia port wasn't as unpolished and buggy as it is. I don't think that many of the issues will be fixed at all. There's probably just not enough money to make on Stadia yet to justify the development effort... :unamused_face:

Borderlands 3 is an amazing game but it's buggy AF, I've had stuttering and minor problems through the main campaign and DLC1 but it has been playable all around.

 

But know in the DLC2 and DLC3 the game freezes completely for me, I'm playing normally and the screen gets frozen and I can't do anything, just push the Stadia button to get to exit the game. And it's happening every time I try to play, start normally and in some minutes game gets frozen.

No matter what I try to do every time the same happens, so know I can't do anything in the game.

It’s been 6 months since the original post. The unpolished bits remain. I’ve been on the fence about this game on Stadia, I had already played through it a few times on PS4, but I wanted to at least give it a shot. While I love that this weekend I can finally experience streaming the game on Stadia free-to-play, I was curious if my initial issues were unique. Apparently not. I discovered these posts and Gearbox hasn’t fixed the game since release.

I don’t plan on purchasing the game after the weekend for these reasons. I’ve played co-op with my wife since B1 and the experience has always been a little unpolished, but at this point I feel like I’m rewarding Gearbox for keeping up with that trend. Enough is enough.

I like the look of the game on Stadia, the HDR pops and the game feels responsive at 1080p/60. At 4K it looks even better but feels sluggish and I would be hesitant to say it’s achieving 30fps. 

I have probably put about 8 hours into the game so far, I will not be buying the game after the free weekend. The reason I got on board with Stadia is that I was tired of having to wear headphones when playing games on the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro just to be able to hear the audio due to the poor cooling on those devices and also the constant game updates etc.

Borderlands on Stadia hitches and stutters in combat, the game textures take forever and a day to load in. Sometimes the game looks like it has clay textures for far too long. I would put up with this if it was a Pro game that was part of the subscription but I’m not going to pay £25 to support the game when it seems unoptimised on Stadia hardware. How can the textures load so slow on this kind of hardware, they are faster on both Xbox and PS4 which both have dog slow HDDs.

I posted a comment earlier on this thread but it vanished, having just got to Prometheus and trying to do missions there it’s horrible to play, stuttering all over the place with textures taking a day to load. Unplayable for me so I’m calling it quits on Borderlands there.

Picked up Borderlands 3 cheap and can echo most of these issues. It feels like the game is running on slightly underpowered hardware. There are stutters and slowdowns and sometimes it'll just pause to think for a moment when I change guns. It's not the streaming that's struggling, though - that runs great - it's the game itself, or whatever system Google have it running on.

Slow texture pop-in and long load times are not something that will be improved by anything I can do on my end, despite support's claims otherwise.

It really doesn't matter if you buy it at a discount if it doesn't work, just leave it at the bottom of your library next to the PRO games.

I have days that it works well, although I don't really know if it is actually a map that works well and another map that does not.

I rarely start it every few months to play some of the campaign.

I think all 2K games give problems on Stadia.

Zdravím všechny  a chci se také podělit o jistou zkušenost, #Borderlands3 je muj oblíbený titul ale právě jsem zjistil že ho nejspíše nikdy nebudu moci dokončit v DLC Bounty of Blood v misi Dandy and Damsel je bug který znemožňuje další postup je nutné tu zeď rozbít pomocí krystalu ale to se prostě nedaří. Opakovaně jsem se pokoušel znovu spustit streamovaci službu i samostatnou herní relaci, ve hře samotné jsem opakovaně pokoušel nainstalovat poslední Hot fix problém se však opakuje. Psal jsem na zpětnou vazbu Stadia, 2k support i na Gearbox support jediný kdo odpověděl byli v 2k že registrují moji stížnost.

Pokud má někdo podobnou zkušenost budu velmi rád když mi z této situace pomůže nejlépe bez ztráty postupu ale jsem rád za jakékoli info díky..
