Black screen in Stadia

Jump to Best Response

I've tried launching both Destiny 2 and Samurai Shodown with the same issue.

Opening a game shows the splash screen, then the game turns black and nothing ever happens. The shift+Tab overlay works fine, but there's no sound or image coming from the game itself.

As a side note, Google support is absolutelty terrible:

* The queue for "Customer Care" is 170 people long.

* The Callback feature isn'tworking because it's "Out of hours". It's 10:30 AM.

So now I have to use this forum where there's a very small chance I'll actually get any useful help because the people here aren't support specialists.

Windows 8.1, Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Tryed the flags, also disabled a couple of pluging. So far only the @Cziebesz hardware aceleration solution worked. Ty very much.

Mh that's a problem indeed, I mean if you have tried some things already like restarting devices (TV, app, etc.) the only way to fix this is to contact Stadia support team.

I know the queue is horrible atm, the only other thing you could do would be to leave feedback for Stadia in the App, but you'll probably not get an answer there, even though it'll be reviewed.

Hope for you that it will work soon!

Having the same issue here. Internet speed is good so that's not the problem. Very frustrating.

Granted the Stadia support is terrible at the moment - but I'd suggest it might improve when everyone has their invite codes and things settle down!

I have the exact same problem. Good connection and the controller works (I can take a screenshot of the blank screen, for example.) I'm going to give this maybe a couple more days and then return the unit.

Okay, I may be on to something.  I have two pcs, both running Chrome 78.0.3904.  One has Windows 10, the other has Windows 8.1.  The Windows 8.1 machine (which has the better graphics card and more memory) will not run a Stadia game.  The Windows 10 box will

Guys, i've got the solution to the problem:winking_face:

I think the problem is Windows 8!
Select Chrome, go on proprieties , then compatibility, set "run the program in compability mode" and choose Windows 7, apply and close.
Now restard chrome, go on stadia.com and run the game.

This way i solved the problem and i hope i have helped you all too!

@TroyAndAbed @SkyMatt @raybo @chrispage1 @blockfighter

Some items that I've picked up this week include:

1. Reset Chrome flags - go to the URL chrome://flags , select "Reset all to default", restart Chrome and try again.

2. Run Chrome and use an Incognito window and see if that helps, disable any extensions that might have been added.

3. Reduce refresh rate on mouse pointer (usually a feature on some mouse drivers).

4. Access Chrome flags and enable the feature "Enables pointer lock options".

5. On Windows 8 run Chrome in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

6.  Black screen on Chrome, try: Chrome flags and set Hardware accelerated video decode to Disabled.

These are some of the suggestions that I've seen that have addressed the issue for some users.  Can't hurt to give them a try and see if it resolves any of your issues.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Is there a solution to this problem happening on Chromecast with Google TV? Game connected to Ubisoft servers then black screen. I can hear the faint menu music but that's it

Ok so I was having this issue on my android and none of the comments worked for me but I have a solution for Android users. I felt really dumb after figuring this out but all I had to do was enable screen auto rotate in my settings and it was fixed. Hope this helps all android users cuz I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong :face_with_tears_of_joy::grinning_squinting_face:

Hi everyone,
This is an older post so we're going to go ahead and lock it now. If anyone still needs help after trying the suggestions here, I'd recommend creating a new post so that you can get better visibility in our community.

Thank you,
James
