Baldur's Gate crash after boot.

Jump to Best Response

After the release of Patch 6 on Stadia, every time I try to boot the game, it crashes. There is an in game message, but Stadia closed out before I'm able to read what it states. I then get a message from Stadia stating "there was a glitch".

  • All my other titles boot up and play with no issues (purchased and Pro).
  • I've tried on my Chromecast Ultra, Chromebook, Computer Chrome and Edge browsers, and the Stadia app on a Razer 2 phone and Pixel 6.

I've had this error since patch 6, have not even been able to try patch 6. I contacted larian and got this response.

If you're getting the "There was a glitch" issue, sometimes closing the game, opening a different game (can use something like Destiny 2 if you don't own any others) and then reopening the game can work.

If that doesn't work, your best bet is to contact the Developer as it's not Google who can fix issues with a game.

Got a very similar reply from Larian, though yours sounds a bit more optimistic than mine.

I have the same problem since Patch 6 was released. Was not able to play the game once since then.

I have the same issue: since Patch 6 was applied, the game crashes without reaching the end of the loading screen. I've tested this on my modern Chromebox, Chromecast Ultra and Pixel 4a. My other Stadia games work fine.

I raised the issue with Stadia Support and Larian on 29 October. Larian got back to me the same day with troubleshooting steps, which I ran through. They asked me to request that Stadia Support delete my game profile, which I did, but Stadia Support replied that this wasn't possible (they can only delete our whole account).

I then got a follow up from Larian on 2 November:

"A few other people have since reported this error, and we are currently investigating this issue."

It's Early Access, so I'm not upset about this, but obviously I hope that it can be fixed in due course.

Weird, I had to delete f1 2020 codemasters save games to prevent it from crashing like that. In GRiD, I had the same issue, but instead of deleting save games, I just let it rest a few minutes in menu before pressing anything, and that fixed the issue for some weird reason. Did not crash anymore.

Incase it helps.

Try the game again today, people. It's just started successfully for me for the first time since we reported the glitch.
