Anyone else just have failed experiences with this?

I got in on this system early. I was excited, I figured if anyone could do this correctly it would be Google.  Since the release of Stadia I have been horribly disappointed. I have not had one single experience where the video quality was good, where the game didn't stutter constantly, when my game wasn't forced to shut down because my connection was "unstable" or "not strong enough," yet stadias own test and several other speed tests show my connection at being 30+mbps or 45+mbps. Even when connected to LAN its just terrible.  I was wondering if I am just cursed or if everyone shares this experience.  The only other person I know with this system works for google and cant say enough wonderful things about it. But every time I load a game the experience is just not good. I honestly look at my controller like a $129 paperweight at this point.  Any tips on things I can do to make this experience better? I have stuck to only ethernet to see if that would improve things, I have removed my VPN's and any virtual vpn connections, I have shut down all other streaming or downloading in the house, and still, terrible experience.

@StaydeaIsAwful My experience has been great and none of the issues you described. But I have fibre right into the house and 200mbps so maybe that is it. That said, I’ve also been fine with two stadias running on just Wi-fi in parallel with friends.

Have you tried reducing the image quality in the app to compensate for you slow internet speeds?

For me it’s technically brilliant it’s other areas I feel let down and at those speeds you mention even dedicating the line only to stadia which I doubt is the case you going to have hiccups on 1080p, if you put it to 720p for a bit and report the same issues it must be a line quality thing.

And just to add I’m on exact same speed with BT I get 1080p with one device using Netflix which is my partner all the time when the daughter comes home and puts her Netflix on I’m forced down to 720p.

But literally their support page, their speed tester, their marketing materials, their demos, their website all say 4k smoothly at 45mbps. So why should I be experiencing problems?

So what you are saying is that all of stadia's marketing, demos, advertising, and support information is wrong. That to enjoy 4k smoothly you dont need 45mbps like they have said repeatedly you need 2-3x that speed.  And I understand that, what I dont understand is that why at 45mbps am I getting booted within 5 minutes of playing the game? Shouldnt it keep going even if its blurry or stuttering, why would it repeatedly drop me?

@Matt1   So after digging into it alot, although my speed is continually tested as being fine for the system apparently my connection is super unstable, after doing a ping test it hiccups alot and ATT can't find a solution, we tried switching lines, replacing the router, resetting the entire system, and still ping problems.  So I knew it, I am cursed, and will never get to enjoy stadia.

2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds.

Range : how far your data can travel. In most cases, the higher the frequency of a wireless signal, the shorter its range.

The biggest reason for this is that higher frequency signals cannot penetrate solid objects like walls and floors as well as lower frequency signals. Thus, the 2.4 GHz has a farther range than the 5 GHz frequency.

Bandwidth (speed): Higher bandwidth means that files will download and upload faster, and high-bandwidth applications such as streaming video will perform much smoother and faster.

Higher frequencies allow faster transmission of data, also known as bandwidth. Therefore, the 5GHz with its higher bandwidth will provide much faster data connections than 2.4 GHz.

•     If faster speeds are most important to you, 5GHz is usually a better choice than 2.4 GHz.

•     If the wireless range is more important to you, 2.4 GHz is usually a better choice than 5 GHz.

•     If you have a lot of devices that use 2.4 GHz and you are experiencing interference or intermtent connectivy issues, then 5 GHz is probably a better option.

That's the issue I had Interestingly enough it goes away when I play on my pixel.

Here's a link were I got my info

When I first got Stadia, I had a 45mbps and was running great. Now I have 120 mbps and now, it run great even when other people are streaming videos or downloading

I have a 100mbps connection and so far I have nearly no issues. Always crisp picture. I had problems when the chromecast is connected via WLAN. Other problem was in one room where WLAN is not very strong and the controller stutters from time to time.

You have WLAN? Then disable airtime fairness. That is maybe fair for all devices, but it seems that every connected device gets its time even if it needs it or not.

So I have seen everyones messages here and basically the answer is, "I dont have a problem because I have 2-3 times the speed that stadia says is needed for smooth 4k operation."  So I think stadia needs to update all their marketing and support information to say, you need 100 mbps or more to have a smooth experience.

My connexion is fiber 1gb/s ultra stable, i don't have your issues.

I know that some internet providers give an unstable connexion although you have the speed.

I would suggest to use the smartphone app -> click your profile -> data and performance -> pick limited

I preordered as well and TBH for the most part while using the CCU it was fine. Would only occasionally have issues and would have to just stop playing and try again later. I have 1Gbps internet and speeds are always above 800Mbps from my PC but trying to play through chrome was impossible. I also have Geforce Now and it has never worked due to upto 97% packet loss so I knew there was a lot more to it needing just speed.

After some research and testing I found it to be the hardware provided by my ISP was complete crap but due to their delivery system and their complete lack of giving a crap about paying customers it was going to take forever or a big chunk of money to get around their system. Finally I found a cheap way around it a few weeks ago and am now using my own router and everrything was fine with the CCU.

Chrome was still a big problem and it turned out to be hardware accelleration with my GPU, turning it off made it playable and then using the stadia+ extension made it better again. Chrome updates have also been improving the experience every so often.

TLDR: Download speeds just show you have the bandwidth. If you get disconnected due to stadia's connection status being red or even yellow its due to the quality and stability of your connection.

I'm having the exact same experience, it turns out that the 30mbps needed is actually a dedicated feed, so if you have a 30mbps connection but more than one person using the connection, that bandwidth is shared, so you end up with much less than is needed to run stadia.

The sad truth is the only people that can enjoy Stadia are those who have fibre to their premises, and that isn't many people.

I feel cheated by googles Marketing, I will cancel my subscription and buy a PS5 instead.

Maybe cloud gaming is the future when high-speed gigabit networks are normal, but for now, Stadia is a fringe product offering a bad experience for most people.

That's why you have a free month from the start. You can test how it works for you. You can also get a refund within 2 hours of playtime of any bought game. You're encouraged to try the service but you can easily leave it for no charge if it didn't work for you. It's pretty fair.
