Hello everyone,
Since yesterday I have an issue with the Android app. When I start up it closes without a message or error indication.
Sometimes when i restart the posted screen will appear. Pressing retry gets me in the app sometimes, which mostly closes again soon after.
Pressing 'why would i see this error' doesn't help much more than redirecting me here.
Trying to find a group of regular players (after ditching my PS4, loving Stadia
) so I've been adding lots of friends. Upwards of 80 as of now. App started behaving badly after the last ten or so accepted. Could this maybe be an issue?
CCU and laptop gameplay work fine. On the latest Android and app version.
Sorry for not responding. The problem persisted for about a week after my post, but seems to have been resolved somehow. The app works fine now thankfully.
Hi @Texarkanian
Did you try to clear cache and cookies on the app?
Sorry forgot to mention that
.
Yeah, cleared cache and storage, deleted and reinstalled. Restarted phone.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hi @Texarkanian, thanks for posting about this. Are you able to test on any other devices? Usually, when someone starts to experience an unexpected problem, we try to narrow down the possibilities by testing on other devices to make sure that the problem is isolated to a particular device. To be safe, are you able to also try on a Chrome instance?
Hi there, I'm working on the problem with Stadia support. Still having trouble with it. I'm experiencing the problem on 2 phones and a laptop.
Stadia runs on Microsoft Edge, not on the Stadia app or on Chrome. I get a 429 error sometimes. Sometimes it does work.
I'll post a solution here when I get one.
Hi again @Texarkanian, thanks for the update.
Interesting that Stadia runs in only select circumstances. Have there been any significant changes to your home network as of late? Usually, if the problem is agnostic of the devices you use, the next big suspect would be the network.
Could you tell us more about the network you are using at home? Are you exclusively trying to play over wi-fi? Is it possible to test a wired connection? If you're on wi-fi, are you on the standard 2.4GHz band, or can you try configuring your network to run on the 5GHz band? These are just some things to consider. Keep us posted!

Hi, i have the same issue. I have two Stadia accounts and it only happens on the account with a huge friendlist. It crashes without error and when i try to access stadia.google.com it gives me a blank page with error 429.
When I try to restart the app with the same account it says "something umexpected happened".
After a few minutes waiting it works again (also stadia.google.com is accessible again) but when i try to start a game it crashes again.
This never happens when i switch to my other account with just a few friends.
Error 429 got something to do with too many requests, sounds like there is some link when you have a big friendlist.
Hey @Helga,
Thank you for your comment. We really appreciate the feedback, especially since we are always trying to give y'all the best Stadia experience possible.
I did just want to point out that this is an old topic, so we are going to lock it. If you would like to receive continued support on this subject, please feel free to create a new post. We'd be more than happy to help out.
Thank you,
James
