Afraid of buying games at monthly end

Jump to Best Response
I really want to buy Gylt now but im bit afraid its maybe in the pro sub in feb, but i think this needs to be adressed anyway. Does Stadia give a refund for bought games at an monthly end when this games arrive at the pro subscription in the next month? I mean at an approximatly timeline from the last week of a month till next month? greez- Chronos

@ChronosP :

I can recommend GYLT, my kids have certainly enjoyed playing it.  As for refunds, the policy is a refund can be given within 14 days of purchase and no more than 2 hours of game play having taken place.   If you fall outside of the realms of that then a refund is not possible unless Google agree otherwise.   This happened when Tomb Raider was added to the Pro list IIRC and they were a little more flexible on the return policy, but that hasn't been the case for subsequent titles being added to the Pro list.

The return policy can be found here: https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/9598538?hl=en-GB

The part your interested in is as follows:

  • You can request a refund within 14 days of your purchase if there is less than 2 hours of play time across all accounts (family and personal). Games may only be returned once, so if you return a purchased game for a refund and subsequently re-purchase it, you will not be entitled to a refund. This voluntary refund only applies to purchased games and not for add-on content or services.
  • If you return a game for a refund it will be removed from your library and you will no longer be able to play it.

My recommendation, would be to wait just a few more days to see what the announcement will be and then decide afterwards.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Well, Metro and GYLT would be fantastic titles for stadia Pro. Even to just do a litlle flex into the competitors direction thats for sure! So i would be pretty happy if this was actually true!

Gylt and Metro ... great.

If there are also discounts I will buy an additional title.

I've been wanting to play metro too, so this is a good result getting it free. Will pick up Grid too if it's knocked down to a reasonable price

I wonder where they got their info from....if it’s right I’d be happy with that. My one question would be whether we get to keep the claimed games that are leaving - didn’t even get to start Tomb Raider 20 year celebration yet, too tied up with Destiny when the wife let’s me play :face_with_tears_of_joy:

@Matt1 : If you claim the games and you keep your subscription active then they are yours.  If you don't claim the games and they are removed from the Pro listing, then it will be a case of snooze you lose.

@Mad_Dog_Bravo That’s great if it’s true.... but I seem to remember google made a point to clarify that was the case for the first tomb raider but my impression was that it was not certain for the rest of the Pro games? I remember a google post early on about Destiny 2 saying no plans to remove it for the foreseeable future but would give plenty of warning if they were going to, which suggested to me that we aren’t guaranteed to keep hold of Pro games being taken off pro.

@GraceFromGoogle perhaps this is something that could be fully clarified.

@Matt1 : Claimed games are definitely yours to keep while your Pro subscription is active.  It is only if you let the subscription lapse that you no longer have access to the claimed Pro titles.  But if you renew your subscription you still retain access to those claimed titles.

Policy can be found here:  https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/9578862

Quote:

"What happens to my claimed free games if I’m no longer a Stadia Pro subscriber?

If your subscription to Stadia Pro expires, you will lose access to your claimed free games. When you reactivate your subscription, you will regain access to your claimed free games with your saved data intact."

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

Couldn't agree more with the OP I Bought Metro Exodus last week knowing that there was a risk it would come to pro for Feb. It's not an really any kind of encouragement to purchase any games from the limited library. As others have said if no new titles arrive soon by the end of the year most will be on pro so why would anyone buy anything?

@MrBlue : Until there are significantly more titles I would agree with you.  Although I've purchased a number of titles quite early on for my kids, I haven't bought too much else beyond the initial Christmas spree, and to take advantage of some of the Pro discounts.  But for now we have a library of 12 games of which 6 have been claimed and the remaining 6 titles have for the most part been purchased at Stadia discounted levels.

For myself I've not been planning on buying anything new just yet, but will see what the deal is with new titles to claim and I'll keep an eye out for any Pro deals, but for now at least nothing grabs my attention yet to buy, certainly not at the full Stadia prices lol.

I'm the other day ay round, my missus is hogging tomb raider and I struggle to get to play destiny! To answer your question, once a game is claimed, its yours to play as long as you're subscribed to Pro. New subscribers after February will not be able to claim games that are no longer part of Pro

Edit: beat me to it mad dog!

Glad to hear the games that should be coming. I hope it's the Gold Edition of Metro, the article says it is not. But the same thing happened with Farming Simulator and they corrected it.

As far as the OP @ChronosP if you're afraid of buying games at the end of the month... then just don't, lol. Wait a couple of days and see what the next monthly release will be and when you find out, you will know whether to buy the game you want or not. So, just don't do it. Don't EVER buy games at the end of the month, UNLESS it's a new release game when they start adding games.

Except for new released games, you should just not buy at month's end... give it a couple of days and see what's happening.

And the answer to whether you should expect a refund, is no. They did that when Stadia first released because of how fast they released the second set of pro games. I do think there's some kind of refund policy if you bought the game within a certain number of days and played less than 2 hours or something. But at this point, it's not a secret that new games are being added to pro each month. So if you buy at the end of the month and the game you bought gets added, it's your own fault for not being able to wait 3 or 4 days.

I't s always convenient to wait untill the new games are announced.

For february the new games should be Gylt and Metro Exodus.

If I'm not wrong there are not officials announcements about these games, but the news seems to be quite reliable.
