I am running Stadia on my 2020 - 4K Xiaomi laser projector.
Unfortunately it shows that my device does not support 4K or HDR on Stadia.
I can live without the HDR, but my external Xiaomi Mi Box had no trouble when I selected 4K.
Why does the Chromecast ultra support less than a cheap Mi box?
Can I force it into 4K?
I personally thought about buying this 4k Xiaomi projector to play on very big screens!
Thought digging into the net, it looks like this projector only accept 1080p resolution as a native support. The processor then upscales it to 4K HDR resolution internally.
This might be the reason why your Chromecast does not allow 4K streaming: the projector simply can't handle such input stream.
Still, I don't think you have to throw away the projector for a 4k-capable device. It seems like Xiaomi upscale (processed by DLP input chip) is very good and the on-screen result is very very very similar to a 4k native content!
You save bandwidth (1080p stream incoming) and you watch a 4K stream on your screen/wall. Quite efficient ![]()

Your Xiaomi Box 4K resolution is still unsolved by me
Do you see a lot of difference when revert the output back to 1080p?
