Big games and big news this week, starting with six more free games landing on Stadia Pro October 1! Claim them as part of the 29 games available for free with Stadia Pro in October.

  • (NEW!) Launching directly into Stadia Pro October 1, it’s Dead by Daylight. Stalk your friends. They’ll love it. Or be stalked and outwitted by your friends. They’ll love that, too. In Dead by Daylight, switch off between becoming the hunter and becoming one of the hapless hunted, teaming up to take down the big bad and survive. Dead by Daylight on Stadia also allows cross-play with all other platforms where Dead by Daylight is available.

    And Dead by Daylight launches with Crowd Choice, the new Stadia feature that lets you take control of the action as it unfolds live on YouTube, hosted by your favorite YouTube Creator. Team up with other viewers to vote and change the game as it’s happening. Select whether they play as the Killer or a Survivor in Dead by Daylight… then pick which Killer or Survivor they’ll become!

    Crowd Choice is coming to more games on Stadia soon. You’ll be able to select the story decisions your favorite YouTube Creator makes in Baldur’s Gate 3, and we’re planning even more new ways you’ll be able to use Crowd Choice in other games.

  • (NEW!) Also direct into Stadia Pro October 1, here comes Human: Fall Flat. What’s better than hilarious, offbeat, body-flopping platforming on your own? Sixteen people doing it together! Chaos abounds in Human: Fall Flat, where each dreamscape presents its own challenges and you’re out to climb, jump, and snowboard over whatever it throws at you.

  • SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE – Become the guns akimbo master you were always destined to be. All the fast-paced stylistic action, technowizardry, special effects slo-mo you’ve come to expect from SUPERHOT, and more.

  • Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris – This treasure of the ancient world is not going to collect itself! The Tomb Raider and up to three friends unearth a subterranean temple together in this multiplayer action dungeon crawler.

  • Celeste – One of the best platformers in years combines brilliant level design with a poignant, heart-wrenching story. Both the difficulty and the dialogue will likely make you cry. In a good way.

  • Jotun – Ancient gods and arctic landscapes await the brave solo adventurer who dares confront Jotun, a challenging action adventure that pits a single brave hero against all the powers of Valhalla.

Also, now’s your last chance to grab Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, The Turing Test, and Metro 2033 Redux with Stadia Pro. Claim them by September 30 to get them for free before they leave Stadia Pro! All three games will also remain available to purchase in the Stadia store in October and beyond.

Risk of Rain 2 hits the Stadia store today

Four-player cooperative roguelike survival. That’s a beautiful sentence, and it helps sum up what makes Risk of Rain 2 so special. Pick from 10 unique characters and fight solo or with up to three friends as you take on a dangerous world with over 100 items that change how you play, every time. Risk of Rain 2 launches on Stadia today, and you can buy it on the Stadia store for a limited-time discount price of $19.99 USD.

An all-new level, Sundered Grove, is arriving First on Stadia, so all Stadia players will be among the first to fight within its maze of roots and haunting battleground. Battle all the way from the lofty canopy to the deep underground! This level will accompany Abyssal Depths and Siren’s Call as an alternate fourth level where survivors will have to search the entangled area for the legendary chest.

@Classic-Rando - I appreciate your sense of humor. Seriously though, a community has all sorts of characters/opinions - that is part of what makes it fun. I can appreciate your determined vigil of keeping Google's feet to the fire every week even if I don't share the negativity.

@Classic-Rando what games have you played recently and are you enjoying any of them?

I'm just wondering if all the negative comments are associated to you not enjoying the games you are playing, it can be fun if you do and may change your mindset from wanting every single feature that other platforms have when Google may be doing things a bit different and have a longer project map.

It's not an easy ask to roll out in multiple jurisdictions and build the relevant infrastructure to support it whilst developing new features and get contracts with publishers and work with their internal teams, the resourcing alone is massive.

I think a good question to ask is how many gaming platforms do you see every year launch? I think it is good to be critical at some points but you are all over every announcement with negativity, so what would make you happy?

II've been playing AC Odyssey, RDR2, FFVX.

I've never played the RDR or AC games before, so they've been a great experience, but now I've run out of games to play (oh I played Avengers too, but not for me), all I want, is for Stadia to implement everything they said at launch, and for there to be games that I want to play, if I go to steam, or the PS store, there are litteraly hundreds of good games I want, that will keep me happy, I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsushima (yes I know it's a PS exclusive) and I'm loving it, I know stadia can't get Got, but they can get other games if they pay for the porting and support for updates etc, then when games companies see that releasing with Stadia will be profitable, they'll do it for free!

Oh and what would make me happy?

Stadia having a text chat function at launch, and not to be waiting for something that any gamer could tell you is an essential part of the platform!

Really glad I cancelled pro when I did. Google has to step it up with gamepass and now Amazon coming out with the same service. They still haven't figured out messaging. 4k hdr streaming costs extra. I like stadia, but Google needs to fully support it or end it. Messaging has confused them? Consoles have had that feature with parental options available for quite a while.

@Classic-Rando it might well be and I do agree however is it essential at the moment to core gameplay? There's evidence that they are working on it from the APK breakdown, but think about it from this point - it may not have introduced it yet as it may be getting integrated into other features which we do not know about. I just use discord or other things as I'm always on my mobile anyway.

@Whito these are nice games but most people have them already, some of the games that Stadia has introduced has got me couch co op gaming like I used to. I think they are doing the right thing and starting small and building it up, whilst working with their studios to make new games. There's more to come and it will only get better if it's supported. It is even harder to launch a gaming platform with the market already being dominated, so point of entry is much harder than the 90s.

Classic-Rando

@Delete

TThat's also one of my, and others main complaint, the lack of communication between Stadia HQ, and us peons.

As for using it on your phone and using discord, why not just integrate discord.

Classic-Rando

@Delete

As for your comments to @Whito many people don't have those games, and if stadia had them, I wouldn't have fallen back on my PS4, I'd be playing those games on Stadia.

And yes, it is hard to start up a platform when the big players already have the market on lockdown, that's why stadia needs to stand out, they aren't going to do that if all they have is BG3 (which you can buy on PCs) and functions that were talked about a year ago and still aren't implemented, it gives off a "we're half assing this" vibe!

Stadia need to step up, spend money to get games and finish the platform (which in my opinion shouldn't have been released until now) so people like me, who want to enjoy the platform, don't constantly have problems with it, and end up going back to the PC or consoles.

Also, What happened to Sniper Elite 4 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice? 🥺 I was looking forward to those titles :downcast_face_with_sweat: They were announced at Stadia connect back in July...but now it's like nothing ever happened?

@Oryescent - Sekiro has a release date of Oct. 29 - https://www.reddit.com/r/Stadia/wiki/upcominggames

I'm looking forward to it. I'm guessing Sniper Elite 4 will be one of the surprise drops that will just land without being dated sometime in the next few months.

If those are the games that I currently play and I have left some like Devil may Cry 5, Alien, Far Cry 5 / New Dawn, Batman, Anthem, NFS, GTA ...

Of the 66 Stadia games I have bought back some that I already had and I am replaying them I do not see the problem, because my idea was to abandon the hardware ... that was the idea so I changed the platform ... of the 40 PRO games that have I gave a game to 2 or at least I played them on some occasion, the rest or launch them for the first time and those old AAA games serve to attract players because games that I DIDN'T HAVE and I bought here do not have players like RDR2 or Avengers that I am interested in playing them .

Anyway, that's it, I'll be back in a while ... I've been like this since November ... I'm disappointed and I'm going to buy from Steam, I'll come back in a while I'll buy something, and I'll be disappointed again.

Also toxic and negative users like me are not welcome.

@Classic-Rando you don’t speak for me when you say “everyone” - so when you say games “no one wants” - that’s absolutely false.  I love this months lineup!  Stadia Pro is the best value anywhere.  Sounds like Luna is more your speed... or a console.

EEver heard of hyperbole to make a point, when I say every, I don't litteraly mean everyone in the world, but I to mean the vast majority of people.

If you think I'm wrong, I've been here for about 3 and a half months, check out the "kudos" page, I'm top 5 or higher for the last 6 months, and 8th I think for the entire year (8 months of which I wasn't here).

Obviously a lot of people are in agreement with me.

Also when did I say that I speak for everyone?

Seriously I'm interested, I'm usually careful to say most people (or something similar), unless as stated Above, I'm using hyperbole to make a point, and then it's usually obvious that I'm being hyperbolic?

@Classic-Rando   I think one of biggest problems with your experience with Stadia is that you are not the target audience. Stadia is about decreasing the barriers for high quality gaming. There are things that I'm sure you can or do appreciate about Stadia like its mobile experience or general interest in cloud gaming, but Stadia is probably a couple years from being something you will appreciate (assuming things go well) and that time frame would have been that way form the beginning. The only reason Stadia is on my radar is curiosity, the same for Luna, and the same for GFN. I have a high end gaming PC that Stadia (or any current console) does not match. I have a PS4 Pro and a Nintendo Switch. The only reason I didnt upgrade to an RTX3080 was its launch was both in high demand and a crap show. The only reason I did not pre-order a PS5 is because I have a stupid urge to get a new XBox too so Im going to wait and decide which one I get later (if not both and the XBox being series S).

For now if you don't play games on your phone Stadia isn't going to be for you. In a few years if they develop games specifically for Stadia that take advantage of AI and other cloud services they may be able to bring special gaming experiences for people across levels of gaming budgets. Stadia overhyped their launch in my opinion and have only really started to deliver the Stadia specific features starting this summer and YouTube integrations are starting to trickle in. The game library is still relatively small, but has been making pretty good progress both with number of games and starting to bring in EA games soon for example. It has a long ways to go, but it has always worked well for me as a streaming service, it has made large improvements in game library, it is now releasing its enhanced features. Family sharing, search, and useful messaging are obviously missing, but they are putting together a pretty solid service.

Whito

@Mister_Chip

Why Luna or Console? why not PC?

Nobody say you go Nintendo.

Games and functions, that's what we ask for, we don't even demand it because they promised it. If publishers don't bring games, Stadia doesn't bring features either. Then lower the prices or give us something great. Because for the subscription or the price of the games if they are like the rest of the platforms, for the functions they are new in the sector and there are no games because of the publishers, tell the publisher guys it's their fault.

Classic-Rando
Stadia Player
Stadia Player

@Mister_Chip

AAgain, I have to point out that your post backs up my theory that stadia is for people who can't afford to buy games, and therefore rely on subscriptions of sub pat games.

If you had a choice of any 6 games that are out now, or the 6 Pro games, what would you choose?

Please be honest and don't say the stadia pro games.

Well I can afford to buy any 6 games that are out at the moment, the problem is that I can't buy them on Stadia, so I need to use my consoles or PC.

I'd like to be able to buy them on Stadia, it's a win win for Google, they'll make money, and so will game devs, but all they seem interested in is the pro games.

It's such a waste.

Classic-Rando

@MrButler

That's a well thought out, solidly reasoned response, and it's probably spot on, although I do game on my phone, I bought the oneplus 8 pro just for it, I do find the small screen a bit annoying, maybe screen magnification tools could solve the problem, the technology exists.

But overall, what you're saying is what I've been saying, stadia isn't aimed at the gamer with money to drop on £89 releases 2 or 3 times a month, it's aimed at the "Pro" subscribers, and it's a waste. Word of mouth counts for a lot in gaming circles, and I've seen over 70 people come, and go almost straight away, for a myriad of problems, 1 guy left because he could only chat with other players and listen to the game through crappy headphones, because any half decent set of cans cannot be powered by the controller.

There are just too many problems to mention, and people are talking all about the problems with their friends.

Stadia is hemoraging players, and I can only see it getting worse, unless stadis pulls their thumb out of their ass and do something about it!

@MrButler the game libary is small but has Bern making pretty good.... AHA!

The libarys growing is one of the Main Problems :face_with_tears_of_joy: oh pls Boyz, this is rly sad. Look at Microsoft, u get hundreds of game for free and not 90% indie games.

They grow.

At this Moment stadia is for no one - the Start price is low, after this the monthly Abo and the games are very expensive for their offer.

@Classic-Rando

II agree totally Most time of u. But u will ever have the trolls who say u are a troll.

At the Moment everybody life a dream and not the reality to say stadia does well and its awesome.

At the end u will destroy stadia with it. With this post today, u see that Google will so nothing to rise stadia.

@Schauschau

II fear you are right.

I genuinely believe that all the people who just post "Wow, this is great, keep it up stadia" are going to be the death of the platform if stadia are looking for feedback, and see people just saying how great they are, they're never going to fix what is wrong.

And when I pop up and say "you have problems, this is why around 70 people I knew (about 50 actual friends) left, I get called a" hater"or a" troll".

@StadiaTeam

LListen to the feedback from the people telling you what they want fixed, and get more good games, quickly, I say this from a place of hope, hope that stadia will be a successful platform, anyone remember Sega, they were competing with Nintendo for years, depending on your age, I bet half this forum will have to Google Sega to know who they were to find out what happened to them.

Not only do a lot of the gaming community own half of these games due to free and/or heavily discounted weekends or sales on various platforms. This is a pathetic lineup for the month of October. DBD was a "SEPTEMBER" Launch right? NOT. Boring, sad, no really updates. Oo look Microsoft bought Beathesda and is pumping out REAL IPS along with Sony's HIT-MAKERS for their PS5 launch. Exactly, Google needs to go round to all the games companies with a briefcase of cash, then when they see how many people buy and play their games, they will support stadia for free, they just want to make money at the end of the day, and if stadia is a new platform with enough people who buy games, then they will offer up everything except platform specific titles!

Wow, that was rude. I'm trying to have a civil conversation and you're insinuating that I'm stupid... Not cool at all.

To your point, no, the hypothetical coder you mention won't be trying to sell the service to the developer. I never said that was the case. The Stadia team must make up more than one group of people, don't you agree? All I was saying is that people within the Stadia team are working on getting developers to bring their games over. Not sure how you thought otherwise.

No Problem Rando, many of us are like your players with several years who saw the birth of arcades, consoles and PCs, with various platforms and that we buy many games and we have even put thousands of dollars in a single game, it is our Hobby, we are excited we love it, we were simply fooled, we believed that Stadia was the real next gen and all these months have been agonizing, always waiting that this was the last hellish month and that something incredible would arrive, the months pass and this does not change , Luna appears, they buy Zenimax, FFXVI only on PS5 and Google throws you 6 Indies, I have already been gone for a while and I try to resist because I invested enough, I return to time with enthusiasm ... but little by little the indifference is greater and before I get really toxic I disappear for a while because here I am only suffering... cuz I know my money is lost.

I just want to write one last comment on this announcement. To Grace and the team: well done! 6 pro games in a month is awesome. Celeste alone is well worth $10 and people's time. Dead by daylight easily worth twice that much. It's awesome that we are also seeing the release of Crowd Choice! Nice feature drop! I'm also really excited to get and play Human's Fall Flat.

It is clear you can't please everyone and hit everyone's priorities each week, but the vast majority of Stadians (see reddit.com/r/stadia) are loving this update. Looking forward to more games and features coming soon! September has been quite a month and the fall is looking even better.

@Whito

Yeah, I've only been here for a few months, but after month 1 and I'd gone through the entire catalogue, I kept on waiting for updates, waiting for some good news, but the good news is never really that good, and their is always better news coming from the PC world, or the next gen consoles.

I'd love to save money on hardware, but I'm happy to pay for results, so the £1200 I paid on pre orders for the PS5, accessories and games are money well spent, the die hard stadia fanboys (let's be honest, at this point, that's what they are, PS plus and PS now (£49 each a year, cheaper if bought from CD keys) offer almost everything stadia does (gaming wise at least, free games to keep, and a library of games to stream) and other features too) can be sat here playing indie games whilst I'm playing on my PS5 and £500 worth of "holiday" release games, I'll still have access to BG 3, but I'll be buying that on my new 3080 gpu powered PC as it looks like a mouse and keyboard game (and you can't deny, some games are just better with a mouse and keyboard, some with a controller).

I'll keep Stadia, and I'll keep telling them everything I believe they are doing wrong, and for the people who think stadia is too big to fail, Google Sega, Atari, Amiga, Spectrum and Commodore, see what mismanagement did to all those companies who at one point in time were the big players in home gaming.

Classic-Rando

@DaniGamePlayer

Finally, someone with a sense of humour, and the intelligence to understand what I'm trying to say, stadia needs to compete with the new Xbox, PS5 and RTX 3080 capabilities.

If it can't, it will just be what people give their kids so they can just pay £8.99 for the subscription.

PS (after you buy the hardware.) you can actually buy a year of PS plus and PS now cheaper than a year of Stadia pro and you get your 2 free games a month, and a much bigger catalog of games to play with PS plus, so stadia is offering nothing that the PS 5 (or 4 Pro) will offer.
