Moonlighter Game Announce Header.png

Coming soon to the Stadia store is Moonlighter, the acclaimed action RPG that’s part management simulation and part rogue-lite. As an adventurous shopkeeper in Rynoka village, players will run their business by day while preparing to journey into different realms and dimensions as a hero at night!

We’re excited to share more details below on Moonlighter, including a list of features to expect.

Moonlighter
Developer: Digital Sun
Publisher: 11 Bit Studios

During an archaeological excavation long ago, a set of Gates were discovered. People quickly realized that these ancient passages lead to different realms and dimensions – providing brave and reckless adventurers with treasures beyond measure. Rynoka, a small commercial village, was founded near the excavation site providing refuge and a place for adventurers to sell their hard-earned riches.

Moonlighter is an action RPG with rogue-lite elements following the everyday routines of Will, an adventurous shopkeeper that dreams of becoming a hero.

Features:

  • Shopkeeping! While conducting your business in Rynoka village, you can put items on sale, set their price carefully, manage gold reserves, recruit assistants, and upgrade the shop. Be careful though – some shady individuals may want to steal your precious wares!

  • Fight with style! Defeat various enemies and bosses, and revel in challenging and deep combat mechanics. Masterful control of your weapons, critical timing, careful positioning, and an understanding of your enemies and environment are crucial to your survival. How you battle your enemies is up to you.

  • Meet villagers! Get to know your neighbors as you restore the prosperity of this small commercial hamlet. Help establish new businesses and watch them grow in the idyllic community of Rynoka.
  • Craft and enchant! Understanding the crafting and enchanting system is essential for your progression. Interact with the villagers to craft new armor and weapons, and enchant existing equipment. This creates a great deal of flexibility and spices up the way equipment is used.
  • And get the loot! Access strange worlds through otherworldly gates and collect valuable items from exotic civilizations: resources, weapons, armor, and peculiar artifacts. Hoarding everything won't be possible - use the unique inventory system wisely to take the most profitable loot with you.

Wow, this shows of way more the "power of the cloud" than a, let's say, BATTLEFIELD could do! I'm so happy I did not buy into an expensive console, because stadia has them all!

I love Stadia but the competition is rough. I just got Control for free from the Epic Games Store, which is available on GeForce Now. Plus Disco Elysium is $25.99 on Steam, also available on GeForce Now.

Please, we have great characteristics for being from the cloud, we are wasting everything. None of the games announced at Summer Fest for stadia. Very disappointed

A trillion dollar company, let me repeat, trillion, not million, not billion, Trillion! Doesn't spend like a company that understands that this is a multi billion dollar industry and growing. I use P.S, Xbox, Nvidia G-Force, Google Play & iOS. All of these other platforms, while obviously having been around much longer, just seem to get IT!

Google, you got nothing to loose. The infrastructure, let's face it is already running all your other services, more or less!

Quit riding the brakes and babying the clutch, REDLINE THIS MF! Dump money into this like you actually got money to burn. As I have said before, it will pay dividends!

Why does it feel like stadia is solely focused on following through on promises from launch and getting stadia fully available to all devices and completely forgot that they still need to have people go after publishers for the triple a titles to entice these people to sign up for their service. Either that or they need to let go people from the community engagement team because info is king !! Love for the engineers though

Stadia is getting EATEN ALIVE BY ITS COMPETITION. Google had and has All the right piece YET REFUSES to develop or make things work... Stadia is a fffuuuccckkkkkkkkkkiiiiiinnnnngggggggg.. . Jjjoookkeeeee... No takes it seriously while Game Pass from Microsoft makes leaps and strides EVERY ANNOUNCEMENT. G-Force now works way better since I can play games I own. Why you you idiots over at stadia Team up with PlayStation so this service becomes viable . **bleep**ing Ridiculous.

It seems like things are going to get tough for Stadia once Microsoft gets game pass cloud figured out. it is in beta and you have to use a phone or a tablet so that is worthless imo, but browser and eventually TV support are coming (it is in invite only beta right now). Game pass isn't great yet as the library changes all the time and you can't play things like Cyberpunk of assassins creed via xbox cloud gaming. The best play anywhere device is for sure the nintendo switch still (especially if you recase the dock into a mini one, super portable) but Stadia is probably still #2 as far as pick it up and play anywhere.  It is easy to complain about stadia's lack of games but besides the Switch (which is great if you do not care about graphics, I played witcher 3 on it, played great, looked like butt) no one else has the portability at this point. It will not take much for microsoft to get it figured out though and beat google at this. Time will tell.

Commenting as someone who owns a bunch of triple-A titles but still somehow prefers to spend most of their gaming time on the indies instead:

Variety is the spice of life. It takes all sorts and genres to make a well-rounded assortment. Calculating the ratio of AAA to indies on the Stadia store, and comparing that to competing stores, the selection already has been rightfully accused in the media of being very much on the "gamer-y" side.

Gamers are a fickle bunch. Their consumer culture is characterized by very high degrees of privilege and sense of entitlement. Satisfying their ravenous appetites for whatever they don't have at their disposal at any given moment is a Sisyphean task. Customer expectations is an eternally exploding outwards spiral in every booming business, but in the games industry that's so driven by hype marketing, it's frankly nothing but ridiculous. It's a culture of spoiled brats having a hard time growing up.

That's what I think of the whiny demanding replies under social media announcements of perfectly good indies, and that's one more reason I don't wish to be labelled a gamer.
