June 27_Atari 5 Game Announcement Blog Post Header.png

Today is Atari’s 50th anniversary, spanning five decades of games since its start in 1972 — and this morning we’re happy to announce five of their games launching soon on the Stadia store! Fans of their arcade classics can rejoice and look forward to diving back into four remastered and updated titles – Centipede: Recharged, Black Widow: Recharged, Asteroids: Recharged, and Breakout: Recharged. Plus, a new brain-bending puzzle platformer Kombinera will offer a fresh challenge for players looking to test their skills.

Within each of Atari’s four upcoming Recharged games, every mode and level will be playable solo or in local co-op mode with a friend. Play your best to earn bragging rights at the top of the leaderboards, or test your skills in creative challenges that twist the gameplay of each classic game in new and exciting ways.

The good news is that you don’t need to wait long – Centipede: Recharged is the first Atari game to launch this Friday, July 1st! Purchase it within the Stadia store or claim it with an active subscription to Stadia Pro!

Get all of the key gameplay details about these five Atari titles below, and stay tuned for more information ahead of their launches on the Stadia store in the coming months.

I love these retro games! A great addition to the Stadia library! Great way to expand and round out the game offerings to an even wider range of people.

Those "remake" look pretty good. I tried Asteroids Recharged on Switch and it was pretty fun. Cool to see how those classics still hold up.

I don't understand why Stadia keeps adding low-budget [80-ties of 20th century]-style games. Out of the "200+ titles" available on Stadia, only approximately 10% are interesting from my viewpoint (so, in my opinion, 90% of the titles are superfluous). Instead, I would like to see on Stadia:

- Cyberpunk 2077 with ray-tracing

- Horizon Zero Dawn; Horizon Forbidden West

- Death Standing: Director's Cut

- Fix rendering and gameplay bugs in Darksiders 3

- HDR support in Linux

- Better FreeSync support (for example: ability to set 45 Hz as a target with a corresponding self-adjustment of rendering quality settings)

- A Plague Tale; A Plague Tale: Requiem (with ray-tracing)

- Kena: Bridge of Spirits

- Just Cause 4

- Support for hardware decoding of 4K VP9 streams in Chrome+Linux

I'm old so Breakout and Asteroids were my jam in the arcade/2600 days. I'll be getting a few hours of nostaligia-laced fun out of these.

Interested to see what TWoS brings us tomorrow m

Asteroids was where it began for me - when it came to gaming - these Atari Classics re-imagined are great additions to Stadia library - love to see it.

Love to see it, but truth be told, hoping that fostering a partnership with Atari is going to help long-term with Google fostering more partnerships with more developers and publishers.  I'll be excited to jam on some Breakout, but I'm also hoping we can see more modern games from Devolver Digital and WayForward, as well as titles from Capcom!  Pleeeeease - Resident Evil and Devil May Cry!

Good stuff! I grew up on Atari games, so it's nice to revisit them (with updated graphics and gameplay). Oh, man, how many quarters I spent on Centipede back in the 80's...

I'm very close to suspending my Stadia subscription. Retro games are cool and all - and I'm coming from a generation where we played them on arcade machines in the chip shop whilst waiting for your order - but I need something immersive...I need more from Google and I feel like I'm hanging on waiting for this bad relationship to get better, but more and more low budget games keep coming out and I'm about to jack it in.

I may be old but these titles do not excite me. My mobile could play all these games simultaneously. Why would I want to stream them and waste data? Just put them on the Google play store. New players are entering the market like Boosteroid. They even have batman Arkham knight, death stranding, god of war and mass effect. Stadia is becoming a joke.

I love these pick up and play games. I find myself playing these types games more than other modern titles because there's no investment, and can be put down just as easy starting.

Can't wait to play!

So i got Centipede on PRO this month.

I was like wtf is this itsh it looks like crap, theres not even a graphical upgrade, besides the point it looks like ur playing on an old arcade screen. Ive played more interesting titles for free on the app store (this was my thinking going into my 2nd round of Centipede)

lol Just like PacMan its one of my favs now. simple and sweet
