No he's not the stadia creative director that was in his bio but has been clarified he's not that. Keep up. He works in the stadia team that typhoon studios merged into. If he's a director its of whatever game they are working on.

And yes several execs have come out and said google and stadia and youtube aren't advocating it. That doesn't stop the fact that what he said is likely to prove correct in the long run. Publishers like money. Look at all the ways they shilled for it in the past. Passes in game boxes to prevent 2nd hand sales, loot boxes in full priced games. At some point they will try to make money from streamers.

You believe any spin you want, if you think that Stadia are going to allow their employees to say that they're the "creative director @stadia" when they're not, you're a tiny bit naive, and might want to look up the term "damage control"

But if you think stadia is badly run you can think that, personally I am happy for what I've paid and the games I have and that the system is building up its catalogue. I never expected anything else. The fact they launched the studios after announcing said they were playing a long game with how long a game takes to produce.

If folk think stadia is not everything they want the finger should be pointed at the boss Phil Harrison. He is the boss, but even though I am happy with stadia, while many seem not to be what is he doing.

DDon't you understand that legally, game companies already have the power to do what he suggested, they always have, but often games are made or broken by the reception they receive from streamers, it's the best advertising games companies have, anyone with any sense is never going to actually try and enforce that law, it'd shut down twitch and half of youtu.be overnight.

Yes I understand that, but I still agree with what he said. Publishers have used every avenue they can to try and increase revenue from games. At some point they will try it with streamers. It will be one of the biggest selling games. Probably a COD. Streamers will moan and then fall in line and then other publishers will follow suit.

Never going to happen.

1 guy hardly anyone in the gaming world knows mentions the idea, and almost 17500 people ratiod him so hard that he's probably had a demotion to save face for Google, either that or a strategic job title change (and orders to keep his mouth shut) at best.

Either way, just for mentioning the idea he's been slapped by the powers that be, now imagine the reaction if they actually tried to implement that, not to mention most games companies actively encourage streaming in the ToS, I think you seriously underestimate consumer power, you push people to far and they'll just leave, whatever it is.

The way streaming and the games industry works at the moment is a win win, streamers get to stream and create content and maybe money, and games get free advertising, people have been using the music industry as an example of this happening, but it's apples and oranges, you listen to music, it's the same thing if you own it, or if you hear it from a stream, but games are very different playing them, to watching a stream of one.

I don't know why I'm explaining this to you, it's been discussed thoroughly for the last 20 or so years, and a happy win win symbiotic relationship has been created, nobody with any sense wants to mess with it.

I know it was changed yesterday after folk called him out for being a stadia creative director to his actual job title. But that's still not the team that runs stadia but one of the teams created to make games for stadia. its not hard.

You're explaining it because you don't think it happen where as I think it will.

Then you, like Alex don't understand the gaming industry, this is industry standard, games companies LIKE PEOPLE STREAMING THEIR GAMES.

It's free advertising, and it's proven to be effective for over a decade now, companies are going to make more money off extra sales through people watching streamers and buying games (something I've done dozens of times) than they would trying to fleece more money off of consumers by selling streaming licences.

People in general are already pretty sick of microtransactions, take wow for example, shadowlands postponed with no release date, but instead you can buy a horribly designed transmog set for cash or 6 months subscription, when they don't even have a new release date, people hate it, and wow numbers are dropping again, imagine they introduce a streaming license, unless it's going to be a couple of dollars, people will just leave and play FFXIV or something else that doesn't have a streaming license.

It just isn't going to happen.

Edit.

Also I'm pretty sure they altered his job, not just the title, but the fact that they did that, and put out a press release saying that this guy doesn't speak for us, we like our streamers shows you what tge industry thinks about it.

I really think you should have free demos available for public to try out, and I mean not free weeks or whatever, but permanently, the way you can find on Steam for example.

This free week is great, but it will pass and some people will miss out for various reasons. Even if you repeat this type of event, is not enough.

Just have a set (the bigger, the better) of demos readily available for everyone to try at the time of their choosing. Many people are not interested in Pro or buying games on Stadia, but they might get interested in free try-outs, and who knows, eventually become actual customers because of that.

Hey there Stadia team,

will the referral program be available in other countries and well (Germany in my case is of utmost interest)?

Beside from that thanks for all the latest activities!

Young souls looks amazing and I'm definitely going to cop. I just want to know why y'all announce a game I've never heard of at least 2 months before it comes out next to games that are coming out in a couple of weeks. It messes up the flow of hype between games. Your advertisement team needs direction help, but I'm here for it.

II'll say it once again, Stadia was a great idea that could've been truly great, but it's a lion being led by donkeys, and stupid, indecisive donkeys at that!

I had a great time playing with the demo for Immortals Fenyx Rising yesterday. I would absolutely buy it in a moment. However, I am hesitant to spend any more money on Stadia games until families sharing is available. Why in the world should I have to buy a game twice so that my son and I can both play it on our separate stadia accounts?

This is also why I haven't bought the Avengers game or any others in the past few months.

Get this fixed Stadia and your profits will increase.

@captbunzo

TThank you, yet another prime example of how a simple thing, that could've been easily fixed months ago is ruining Stadia.

@StadiaTeam please take note of what this guy said, he hasn't purchased anything for MONTHS, you're killing off your own platform through incompetence.

If you have the "long term strategy" that I've heard of, don't you realise that pretty soon everyone that has tried Stadia and left will not only likely never come back, but also bad mouth the platform to their friends, further killing off any potential growth.

Now a Chromecast exists with Bluetooth, which is supposed to support stadia, this opens the door up to Bluetooth headsets, keyboards and a world of possibility, and what are you doing with it?

Nothing, not even a date when codename Sabrina will actually start to work with Stadia officially, even though it does work, I sideloaded the app to try it out.

What is going on in Stadia headquarters, is this a secret ops campaign to strategically ruin Google (or at least cost them a **bleep** ton of money) by Jeff Bezos, because at the moment, that's the only reason I can think of behind the decisions and "progress" that's gone into Stadia since I've been on board.

Get your act together, yesterday.

@Classic-Rando I wouldn't go quite this far. I play Stadia all the time, mostly Destiny 2, and still love the platform. And I do think it will be very successful. However, giving us realistic expectations for needed features would be helpful.

Classic-Rando

@captbunzo

1, it's @classic-Rando

2, you still play destiny 2, but you're not buying games, and by your own admission, will not buy any more games until they fullfil important promises, that most people with the technical skill to do so will tell you that, once the concept is designed, can be easily implemented.

The hard work is done, the platform works on its fundamental level, everything else now is essentially semantics and indecisiveness.
