Hello all,
I have made all purchases with PayPal and also got a part refunded via PayPal, but the remaining amounts can now not be refunded via PayPal. I was offered as an alternative via G-Pay the payment methods 1. Google Play credit 2. credit card 3. bank account (only German banks) to choose from. Unfortunately, I have no bank account in Germany and no credit card and Google Play credit is out of the question! "only German banks" has the background that I live in Germany but my bank is in Austria.
Because for me no suitable alternative is available, I have turned yesterday to the support (via chat) which I think I did not understand correctly and only with "but that's too bad" and again and again referred to it I should look at the FAQ page (https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/12790109#zippy=%2Cf-wie-werden-meine-stadia-store-erstattun...).
The conversation ended with him passing the information on to the responsible team.
Today I had to find out that I only have Google Play credit and credit card as payment methods to choose from, bank account has disappeared.
And now my question: Why is it not possible to use Austrian accounts as a German and why is it not possible to select PayPal again for the refund?
I believe the issue that you have (that only specific payment methods are given as alternative) could stem from the payments profile that you have. For example in pay.google.com if your profile is Austrian, I believe you would see Austrian available payment methods.
It's indeed a bit weird that some purchases with PayPal could be refunded and some not, but since there was an issue with some purchases, that's now something only the alternate payment method could fix.
Easiest may be if you have a credit card to use that one if the banks shown are not the ones you prefer. Or double check which payment profiles you have and if you live in Germany (physically) but your payment profile is Austrian, you could also consider changing it accordingly on pay.google.com to a German profile. I'm not sure what's exactly the case for you, but it's important that you have a payment profile in the country that you live in to use the payment methods of that country. And yeah using Austrian payment methods will most likely not be possible on a German payments profile.

Thanks for the answer, all this is also clear to me and I also asked my friend if I can make the refund through your German bank but unfortunately since today I can not even select a bank account as an alternative payment method.... ![]()
And extra for it now to acquire a credit card?
