Hello,
My refund was unable to be complete because the payment method I used for the purchase is no longer active. I added a current bank account to Google Pay. Will the refund be processed again, or is there something else I need to do first?
I had the same issue, followed the procedure as was in the email. Linked the new payment method to the refund payment and afterwards the refunded me on that payment method.
If your old payment method is no longer active @zpmertens, then the refund will fail and you will receive an email from Google with a link to provide them an alternate payment method. So that way you can then provide your new payment method. Changing it right now on pay.google.com will not influence the refund directly, since it's normal that Google first attempts to proceed with the refund back to your original payment method and only if that doesn't work, then you can provide an alternate. But it has to be through their email (if you never receive an email, you can also check on pay.google.com if you get any notification).
Thank you both for your responses. I followed the link in the email and updated my payment info. Now I'm getting the message "Update Payment Method: You don't have any refunds right now." Any ideas?
Hey @zpmertens,
That's normal, once you have updated your payment method, it takes a few days until the refund arrives. In the meantime if you click the link in the email again, it will guide you to the message "You don't have any refunds right now", because you have already updated the payment method, so there's no outstanding issues with refunds anymore.
So in your case I would simply wait a few days (if necessary wait also 1-2 weeks) and see if the payment arrives on your new payment method.
