Stadia refund to a credit card that no longer exists

Dear Stadia, 

The credit card I used to purchase 2 x stadia controllers is no longer active.  How will this refund be made?

@adamg @_bash_  You will get further instructions in the email to provide a new payment method, if the payment method you used to purchased Stadia games are no longer valid.

Just a quick follow up on this.. after contacting stadia support in the web chat the payments have now appeared in my bank.. not sure if its coincidence or something else.. but it was literally the day after contacting them they all went in at once.. so in my situation its all resolved..

Hey folks,

Just wanted to check in with those of you that seem to be having issues with the refund process. Let me clarify.

If you received an email saying something along the lines of "stadia has issued a refund... it may take several days for the refund to appear on your statement," then this is only confirming that the refund has been started not necessarily that the refund was successful. If unsuccessful you should email another email asking to fix your form of payment in gPay.

We can't promise any specific time frame on when everyone will receive these follow up emails other than we are doing our very best to make sure everyone receives their refunds before the Stadia closure in January 2023.

Hey James a refund was posted to my Google pay, although the card I used are not valid, I have since updated my card on file in gpay and am concerned that my refund is lost in space? Any information on timeframe?

I got an email telling me refund was refused and prompted to change my payment method to accept the refund.  However the activity panel just says "refund refused" does that mean there will be no refund coming?  How do I know if the refund is coming to the revised payment method?

I called the old bank and they said that if the refund arrived to them, they send it back.

now it is 3 weeks that I received the email about the refund but any email to change the way of the refund! And if I look the google account it said refunded.

I’ve received the email to change my payment, however I bought the stadia by doing a guest check out. How do I change my payment method if the stadia was not bought on this account?

Google Store Support hasn't been of any help. I just got an email saying Google refunded my Stadia Hardware purchase to a Credit Card that I no longer have. I contacted Stadia Store Support, and they told me there was nothing they would do, and that I would have to contact my bank. The problem is this credit card is not active because the bank that issued that card to me over 5 years ago is no longer in business. There is NO bank I can call. So basically, Google is just keeping my money. Google wasn't interested in helping me whatsoever. I even asked if they could just give me Google Store Credit. Big no is all they said. Very disappointed in the lack of support. Things like this does stay in my memory for when I decide to buy future products and services. Maybe next time my purchase will be with a competitor.

Welcome to the club of Google's support incompetence in dealing with these issues. My money is active on a card no longer active and Google has to reverse these charges but refuse to listen. All they tell me is to contact my bank. I tell Google's support that me or the bank can't touch this money without their help and all they can tell me is to contact my bank. This is unexcusable.

i feel your pain.... its like we are twinz....if my hardware refund goes to the card that got it and not the updated info im gonna be REALLY pizzed....i wish google would contact U.S.Bank ReliaCard.....and see for themselves what we are talkin about....its like being ignored and not believed like we are trying to get more money somehow like scam them....when in reality it feels like we are the ones being scammed.....this whole process has beein a cr@pshow for ALOT of people....we will just keep getting told wait for the e-mail that wont come and you have time....yea till jan 18th when its like "oh you didnt get your refund straightened out? oh well stinks to be you **POOF**

So, gentlemen. I got the unable to complete refund email, BUT if i click on the link it says :

Hmm, something's not right
Either the profile that you are trying to access does not exist or you do not have permission to access it. Contact your administrator or Google support to resolve this issue.

even if Im logged on into my account? What kind of witchcraft is this? 119 pounds is on the line! :slightly_smiling_face:
