Dear Stadia,
The credit card I used to purchase 2 x stadia controllers is no longer active. How will this refund be made?
Bw
Adam
@adamg @_bash_ You will get further instructions in the email to provide a new payment method, if the payment method you used to purchased Stadia games are no longer valid.
Just a quick follow up on this.. after contacting stadia support in the web chat the payments have now appeared in my bank.. not sure if its coincidence or something else.. but it was literally the day after contacting them they all went in at once.. so in my situation its all resolved..
Hey folks,
Just wanted to check in with those of you that seem to be having issues with the refund process. Let me clarify.
If you received an email saying something along the lines of "stadia has issued a refund... it may take several days for the refund to appear on your statement," then this is only confirming that the refund has been started not necessarily that the refund was successful. If unsuccessful you should email another email asking to fix your form of payment in gPay.
We can't promise any specific time frame on when everyone will receive these follow up emails other than we are doing our very best to make sure everyone receives their refunds before the Stadia closure in January 2023.
Best,
James
Same issue here, please advice! Don't want any google store credits, useless for me...
@adamg @_bash_ You will get further instructions in the email to provide a new payment method, if the payment method you used to purchased Stadia games are no longer valid.
This is not true. I already got my refund to a invalid card and unable to do anything about it. This is bull**bleep**. So long for doing the right thing.
@jsc315 What do you mean there's nothing you can do about it? What kind of card is it? Have you reached out to the bank that issued the card?
Have you ever tried contacting a bank you're bi longer a client of. Unless you're associated with them and have an account you can't get any further then basic customer service due to security so no there is absolutely nothing I can do, due to giggles mishandling if this situation. What a absolute joke this all is.
This it's a lie! No way of changing the new payment method! My refunds are marked as issued even though the card belongs to an account that doesn't exist. I received the link to update the card, I did it and there is no answer from google saying that the refund will be made on the new card!
I got the refund back in my new account at the end after contacting their customer support service through chat (2 hours wait). Their phone service it's really bad quality, with the operator just repeating how the phone call it's important for google while at the same time saying nothing that can help my case. Not their fault (I guess they are just following a script displayed in their screens).
So issue was solved, and kudos to google for giving the refund!
Same issue here, I need to get further instructions in the email to provide a new payment method.
The email I received to change payment method doesn’t work.
Same issue here, nothing at Google support
Same issue here. All my refunds processed correctly a week ago to a card I cancelled. Contacted bank they say payments are lost and to contact google.. which of course you can't.. contacted Google pay they say use the chat support on stadia which is shut down.. complete joke.
You're right! I believe they are trying to lower their losses while at the same time apear as the good guys in the press! I feel that I been scammed!
P.S. I contacted google and I got the refund to my new account! Had to wait a couple of hours for a chat session but at the end worked out!
I was afraid that I wasn't getting the refund due to the bank account not existing anymore but I did get it at the end.
Hey @Maxone, @Claudio1 and @Andrewse,
In your cases, the first step should be to contact the bank or issuer of the payment method, since they may have received the money. If not and the refund fails, you would receive an email from Google with instructions on how to set an alternate payment method.
The customer support (Stadia team) does not have the means to speed up the process, so you would need to be patient in this case. All refunds are expected to be processed by Jan 18, 2023, that's what Google stated when they shut Stadia down.
More questions are already answered in this article, so I recommend for you to check it out as well: Stadia Announcement FAQ
Hope this helps!
If the bank says context stadia and the bank can't do anything how in the world is contacting the bank actually helpful information. This forum is a joke with any actual helpful information.
It's quite simple: If the bank confirms they have not received the money, then the refund will fail at some point (sometimes it takes some days until that happens) and then Google will send you an email to provide an alternate payment method.
So all you need to do is wait and see.
And if this forum is such a joke @jsc315 then you can also contact the busy Stadia team as alternative, but you'll most likely receive the same answer that I've provided, since they don't have any magical abilities to make the money appear. So as I said, best in this case is to wait then for the email of Google if the refund fails or check after a few days again with the bank to see if the money arrived then.
I can't! The bank won't give me any information! I no longer have an account with them for **bleep** sakes. It's their security policy as with most banks. You can't access any information with proper authentication. Without an active account you can't do that! So calling the bank will eventually lead them to tell me to talk to Google, who them tells me to talk to the bank. Nothing is being done because the money is accepted by the bank but I can't access about because I'm no longer that account holder so Google has to withdrawal that refund but they refuse to listen because that money had already been refunded. So yes any of this information absolutely useless as no one is able to help from my previous bank or from stadia or Google.
thats EXACTLY word for word whats happening to me....the money is in the bank but they wont terminate the refund so that googles system sees that its denied so that you get a email to update payment method but nobody is listening they just keep saying wait for the e-mail.....ITS NOT GOING TO COME becausew on googles side the refund was successfull so why would it send me a email to update the payment method
i guess its gonna take one of googles "yes men" to have it happen to them then lets hear them talk about call the bank
Just a quick follow up on this.. after contacting stadia support in the web chat the payments have now appeared in my bank.. not sure if its coincidence or something else.. but it was literally the day after contacting them they all went in at once.. so in my situation its all resolved..
What chat? Send a link please.
Google is not listening to nobody they refunded 6 of my games which is $199.58 to a card that wasnt used to purchase the games it was my pandemic unemployment card which doesnt allow money to be put on unless its a state agency doing it so the funds went to the card but they shut my card down when they got it because google isnt a state agency....called them they will NOT do anything about it they said to contact google and have them retract the refund and send it to my new payment card thats been there since the refunds started.....the bank will not cancel or take off the money because they say google has to retract it so they will not deny it on there end so that google sees that there is a problem so i will not get an e-mail because they wont flag it.....and the whole "automatically send it to the original form of payment" is incorrect cus some of the games wasnt even purchased with that card yet googles totally screwed up system sent the refund to it ANYWAY then google starts getting smart with customers because their system messed up and customers are beyond mad.....so im out the games and the money
all we keep getting told is we cant do anything on our end call the bank and the bank will not do it....and all google says is its automated its automated call the bank call the bank....we was told to change our payment method at the start and we did......googles the one who messed up and we are paying for it.....and before you put the same reply that you have on every single post the refund WAS SUCCESSFULL but the bank will not take it off they say google has to and with this crap going on i dont want my premiere edition hardware purchase to go anywhere but the card the was updated ....it SHOULDNT be automatically sent to the card it was got with cus it just leads to all this same mess and all we keep getting told is contact bank and they WONT DO ANYTHING
This! This so much. No one seems to understand how frustrating and impossible it is to deal with some banks especially when you are no longer associated with them. The bank telling us to talk to Google and Google telling us to talk to the bank and no one clearly has any help. It's behind frustrating and insulting and unacceptable that this is how they decided how they choose to do this refund.
i just got the refund email but i don't have the credit card that i originally paid with to get stadia
try first to check with the bank if they have somehow gotten the refund even though the card does not exist anymore.
If the refund fails then you will get an email with further instructions for an alternate payment method.
Hello I have excatly the same problem, the refund is denied as it is my old credit card (no longer use.)
Same issue here. No email to provide a new payment method so far. Any help would be appreciated!
Same issue. Had my games refunded afew weeks ago and one was purchased on a cancelled credit card. No idea where that money is now. My hardware is about to be refunded to the same card and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna lose it all
