Scammy promo deal

So this is what I'm going to post on every review/story I can find online about this Resident Evil Village Pre Order Promo deal you guys have going on right now cause I'm not at all happy about the way I was treated and about the way this promo was laid out!
(I already posted this on Reddit since according to the rude manager/supervisor claimed no one else feels this way about the promo on there so we will see about that I guess)

Beware of this kinda scammy promotion! This is what I wrote before actually talking to anyone from Google/Stadia...
(See the bottom for their BS response including an extremely rude manager/supervisor who called me back about the situation who kept interrupting me and cause I swore at him for continually interrupting me he claimed he was going to disconnect the call before I told him to F off and I hung up on him!)

I placed my order on 4/29/21 and it forced me to subscribe to get a "free" month for the first month then it's a $9.99 a month subscription after that before I could even get to the promotion page. Now I'm reading some replies on other people's post's and you mean to tell me I'm not getting the equipment (controller and a Chromecast Ultra) until June sometime so that means I won't even be able to actually use my free trial month and have to start paying for this service before I even get the equipment to use it? That makes no sense and I'm a little unhappy about this! Guess they are on the list of places I have to call and complain about the way this promotion is laid out tomorrow. There was absolutely no other way around getting this promotion it made you sign up for the Pro service before you could even get to the promotion page and it made you sign up for the Pro paid version without giving you the option of using the free version which I also thought was a bit odd. I mean I did play a couple games of PUBG and the Pacman game with my Xbox controller but I had to use my phone as the display and well it's just not really playable on a Note 8 screen after your use to playing on a 50" 4K TV or bigger. You can barely even see the enemies! My ping time was amazing though compared to my Xbox One S digital version so that's why I really want to try this out using my TVs but giving a "free" month of service with forcing you to sign up for it to even get to the promo site is kinda a joke if you can't really use it cause you won't have the equipment anyway! Gives me a bad feeling about the way this is starting out for sure! They better give me the "free" month after I get the equipment and then credit my credit card if I'm charged the first couple months to actually get my "free" month if I'm not getting the equipment till June! Also why don't they have a yearly subscription where it's a little cheaper to pay for the entire year instead of having to pay monthly? I don't pay for anything monthly if I don't have to. I pay everything in advance or yearly so I don't have monthly payments on anything. Unless I couldn't find a yearly fee but I looked a lot before I signed up for this. Let me know if there's a yearly subscription cause I would much rather do that than a monthly payment. Thanks! 

Also side note I did try Xbox Game Pass's beta to try to play PUBG on their cloud service and OMG it was horrible compared to Stadia! It was super laggy and the ping was over 200! Also the graphics were all grainy as well. I also was using my Note 8 for the display with the same Xbox controller and same 100mbps WiFi home internet connection so everything was identical other than my playing experience so Stadia is hands down better than that so far... However theirs is still in beta so we'll see what it's like after the beta. But I'm pretty sure Google with all their servers around the world will always be better than Microsoft though. But who knows? Then there's Amazon's servers lol and I think they have been working on a cloud gaming service as well. They might be the ones to beat yet only time will tell though.

I highly think cloud gaming is where the future lies. Consoles are a joke (I'm coming from PC gaming) they have always just been good enough to get by and after a couple years (if that) they are struggling to play newer games. The price is getting completely ridiculous for them! I mean you can almost build a gaming PC for the cost of these new consoles which will never be as good as a PC anyway! Consoles throw off a ton of heat into your dwelling as well (same with PC's even worse with higher level PC's like mine with duel video cards). So if cloud gaming can take off and eliminate that plus all the power consumption consoles and PC's use I think it's the way to go! They just need to get the lag times down a little more (from what I could tell with using my phone as the display) then I'm sold on the whole cloud gaming thing for sure!

Basically they are saying no it's free and I told him yes for the first month but if I don't get the equipment to actually use their service then I won't even get to try it for free. His comment was well you can use your PC or phone and I told him my PC is down from an apartment fire so no I can't use that and my phone yes I tried it but it's to small to even see the enemies on it. So no again it's not really useable to even try it out. He understood cause he also tried to use his phone cause his PS4 was down and he agreed that it is very hard to play on that small of a screen. Then he said well in order to get the promotion you had to have an account so yeah you had to sign up for it first. I said I get that but why wasn't it set up so you could make an account using the free service then cause an account is an account doesn't matter if it's a Pro account or a free account. The way this promo is set up is to force people to sign up for the Pro account which yes it's "free" for the first month but if we don't get our equipment until sometime in June then you won't even be able to try the "free trial" then before you're going to have to start paying for it then. Then of course he went back to his script saying well you can use other devises so I had asked to speak to a manager or supervisor about it so he took my info and that's when the rude manager/supervisor called me back. First off he spoke very broken English so that didn't help matters any and he kept interrupting me so many times I got upset and yes I swore at him cause he kept interrupting me and kept up with the same BS the chat rep was saying. He didn't even seem to care at all about if I cancelled both my Pro subscription and the promo entirely. He actually told me that I could go ahead and do that if I didn't like the terms and conditions of the promo. I haven't completely decided what to do about the situation yet but I'm not at all happy about any of it. The way the promo was forcing people into a paid subscription before having the equipment to even use the service along with the way I was treated as a customer. Especially from the manager/supervisor! He was one of the worse managers/supervisors I've ever had to deal with and that's really bad since I've got literally days/weeks of my life on the phone with managers/supervisors from Verizon about their service and faulty devises that were sent to me! But that's an entirely different story! What are you guys thoughts and comments on this? Am I the only one upset and feel this promo was pretty scammy? According to that manager/supervisor I am. Cause he claims no one on here or anywhere else has felt that way so I'm going to copy and paste this on as many reviews and stories about this promo to see if anyone else feels this way. Thanks for your time and sorry about how long this was but I felt the need to let people know about how I was treated and how I feel about this promo.

Sorry to hear that, but let clarify something, the promotion of the bundle says in the listing that you will receive the bundle code up to one week after game release, so I don't think you will receive the bundle in June, just wait a little more and shortly after the game release you will receive the code (I got my premiere bundle with Cyberpunk promo, it was working in the same way)

For the free trial, it exists, not considering that you could register for the Stadia PRO trial and pay nothing if you cancel before the first month passed (you will still be eligible for the promo) also you may even register without insert any credit card info, you just need to follow the links for one of the available free to play game like Destiny 2 or Bomberman

@HatDroid Well that would have been good info to know before hand. All the links even the other gaming site links all went straight to the Pro sign on info. Including the Stadia web site itself. (I rarely click through other sites links unless there's a discount or something. I own a new window and go directly to the manufacturer web site and do it that way instead) there was no way around getting to the pre order sight other than signing up for the Pro version. That's why I'm upset cause now my "free trial" has already started and I can't even really use it. Technically yes I can by using my small little phone screen but the only game I really want to try out is PUBG to see how it plays and well I've already stated how that was. It's way too small of a screen to actually try it out. So without the equipment I'm wasting my free trial basically. That's why I'm upset about the promo deal. It's kinda scammy the way it's setup. You should have just had to setup an account and you should have been able to use the free account option with the option to upgrade to the Pro version after we receive the equipment to actually try it out and use it

Sadly your case is a little on the edge because you don't own any other screen if not your TVs or your Smartphone, this Is why you can't really enjoy your Trial, the thing is going to improve since more availability is coming up like Android TV or Google TV (was announced but without a release date), sadly (rudeness apart) they said nothing wrong, you don't need to pay for enjoy either the promo or the game, and if you wanted to truly enjoy the trial you should have to wait before buying the bundle since you don't have a laptop where to play...

I agree that the trial skip could be a little more intuitive and you should not read or ask how to skip but the information about shipping of the premiere after the game releases, are written there on the same page you purchase the offer.

The only thing that I can suggest to you here is to try if the lenovo offer is still valid, they were offering 3 months of Stadia Pro for free if you registered to their gaming services (free and you don't need a lenovo product) but be aware that I don't know if the promo is still available, you can find more info on this post on reddit: reddit.com/r/Stadia/comments/n3fw4z/clain_3_months_of_stadia_pro_for_free_with_legion/

@Cujoman187 If I'm understanding correctly, it looks like you're upset because you're not getting the bundle before your one month trial ends. 

Just want to clarify one thing, in case you're not aware. When you purchase the Resident Evil through the promotion, you are not required to maintain your Pro subscription to play the game. If you have a spare Xbox or Playstation 4 controllers, you can use these to play on PC or mobile phones. You can even use mouse and keyboard to play on PC. This is if you want to play the games that are included in the Pro membership during your one month trial (only a select few, as Stadia is not a subscription based service). 

But in any case, you will still be able to play Resident Evil on TV with the Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra once you receive the bundle. It doesn't matter if you don't have Pro subscription at that point.

I personally think it's a great deal. I'm not interested in Resident Evil, but still tempted to get the deal since that means I only need to pay $60 for the bundle (usually retails for $100)

@Ivan Obviously you didn't read my entire rant from before. Trust me I think it's a great deal as well that's why I signed up for the promo and that's why I didn't cancel everything after everything that happened so far. My issues are they shouldn't have forced you to have to sign up for the Pro account without having any way of using it without the equipment first. (See original message PC isn't an option for me and attempting to play on your phone is a joke! Screen is too small also see above message cause I clearly stated that as well) they should have let you sign up for the free account not the Pro account or even just let people go to the promo site and get more info about the deal before forcing them to have to sign up for the Pro account before you can even look at the promo.

My other issue is the way I was treated by the manager/supervisor who called me back. He was rude and kept interrupting me so all that was doing was escalating the situation or just adding fuel to the fire so to speak. I've been in the call center atmospheres or customer service for 8+ years of my life and that's the absolute last thing you want to do in a situation like that! He's a manager so he should have known better. Stadia is looking into that situation for me so hopefully they figure out who it was that I was speaking to since he of course didn't send me a follow up email like he was suppose to knowing it wouldn't be a positive email he was getting back from me cause he knew he was in the wrong the way he handled the situation. Also with telling me go ahead and cancel your Pro membership and cancel the promo deal as well if that's what I wanted to do. So representing Google and acting they they truly don't care at about their customers at all. That's not a good representation of the company cause I also posted this same message on Stadia's Twitter account and they responded fairly quickly. We sent about 20 messages back and forth about the situation and they apologized for the way I was treated so I know they do actually care about their customers. I also sent this message to their feedback department as well so they are looking into this in multiple different ways. They see my point about the fact I'm personally not technically able to use their service until I get the equipment (controller and a Chromecast Ultra) cause I tried it on my phone and it's just to small of a screen. I also see their point about having to have an account but I don't think people should be forced into a paid account just to see a promo offer. So in my case and I would think in others as well we aren't able to actually get to use our "free trial" cause we don't have the equipment to try it. Also the manager mentioned something about being homeless so basically comparing me to a homeless person and if a homeless person doesn't have a PC or phone then why would they sign up for a service like this. There was a language barrier cause he spoke very broken English so that didn't help but that pissed me off too! I actually forgot to tell Google/Stadia about that. When they get back to me I'm going to mention that as well cause I'm far from homeless but I have almost been in that situation before so yeah it's nothing to be a smart ass about. That pushed the wrong buttons with me as well and like I said I shouldn't have let him get to me cause I knew he was just trying to get a rise out of me to have me lose my cool and cuss at him so he could disconnect the call. I'm a little snappy and crabby right now cause I'm recovering from survey and I'm in a lot of pain still and well I've honestly been in a lot of pain for over three years now cause it took the Dr's that long to figure out what was wrong so yeah living in chronic pain for over three and a half years your patience wears thin very quickly so I was partially in the wrong as well cause I let him get to me. I'm hoping they will be able to pull the phone call and listen to it cause had I done that at some of my past jobs we would have gotten escorted out the door and fired. He knew what he was doing and he needed to know he was representing a very large corporation. So he needs to change the way he handles himself and situations like that. I'm just some A hole calling in (well he called me but still) I don't have to follow rules and be as polite when I feel I'm getting ripped off out of my free trial period and I have the right to voice my opinion about it but with him continually interrupting me over and over again yeah I lost it and asked him would you shut the F up so I can talk and voice my opinion then of course that was his oh boy here's my way to hang up on him and get this call over with and gives me the whole you need to keep this conversation professional and not be using language like that or I'll disconnect the call or whatever his spiel was interrupting me yet again. So I said you know what I really don't care anymore then he tried to interrupt me again but I finished anyway and said cause I'm done talking to you he's like good and I told him to F off and hung up on him. He was one of the most unprofessional managers/supervisors I've ever had to talk to and trust me I've been dealing with Verizon for over 12 years now and have literally weeks of my life of being on the phone complaining about their service along with faulty devises they sent me and they have some of the worse reps I've ever dealt with before but this guy was right up there with them! Anyway it sounds like Stadia is going to look into it and hopefully figure something out. Only time will tell.

So, I preordered Resident Evil 8 Mar 23, 2021.

Confirmed via the Stadia assistance, I would be getting the Stadia premier hardware for free for my Resident Evil 8 pre- order.

I checked today, 5/13/21, to see if I could play Resident Evil 8 and it said my pre-order was cancelled!  I didn't request a cancellation and I didn't get and email from stadia regarding this either.

I used the chat version of assistance under the purchase for the game while in Stadia and they gave me a link to get the Premier package for free-- had to pay for shipping and tax.   It sucked but I got it done.

Yeah there was a LOT wrong with this promo they did. Trust me customer support and I had spent a lot of time writing back and forth on Twitter and through emails about the promo along with the way I was treated. They were taking my feedback and suggestions to upper management I believe. I paid the shipping cost and got the equipment a few days ago now but haven't had the opportunity to try it much yet. I've been busy setting up a four tank freshwater snail and eventually shrimp breeding setup so between that and recovering from surgery so I just haven't had the time. I did play about 3-4 games of PUBG right after I got the controller and Chromecast Ultra and I just copied all my settings from my Xbox setup. Well I like to have my sensitivities way up cause I'm used to keyboard and mouse when it comes to shooter games and well playing on Stadia that doesn't work so well. There's too much lag yet. I mean when I turn more slowly it's ok but that's not the style of gameplay I do. I did turn the sensitivities down some but haven't played since then. I think it would be fine for single player games but multiplayer games especially online it's just not quite there yet. At least not for high sensitivities. I'm hopefully going to have some time this weekend to start Resident Evil (so long as mine didn't get cancelled lol) and check it out. I'm waiting on more equipment being shipped to me for my breeder setup yet so hopefully I won't have to mess with anything fish/snail related until Tuesday now lol! Well beside feeding them lol. I can easily deal with that.I also want to get the movie Godzilla vs Kong in this weekend as well and maybe watch the new Mortal Kombat again too.

I already canceled my subscription and never even tried the free trial. After attempting to try to play PUBG while using my phone before I had the equipment and it's to laggy to play that game with my settings fairly high like I have on my Xbox there's way too much input lag yet. I'm kinda upset I even wasted the money on Resident Evil as well just to get this equipment cause the Chromecast that comes with it sucks as well. Mirroring my Samsung phone to my Samsung TV works a hell of a lot better! Only thing Stadia has going for it right now is the ping times are amazing but there's still way too much lag to play online shooters with high movement settings. 

After everything I went through too I'm just pretty turned off over this entire ordeal. To me it was a complete waste of money. I just seen my free trial was ending so I just canceled it without even attempting to try it again just done with it. Almost done with Xbox as well and consoles altogether. I just need to get my PC back up and going and say goodbye to all these inferior products cause they will never be as good as a decent PC.
